Names you'll never get to use...

When I was pregnant with my 2 DS's I had boy and girl names decided on before the 20 week scans!

I had 2 DS's, and after the last one we decided no more, so my girl name will go unused and I feel a little sad about it. It was a great name.

Anyone else feel like this Grin

Halcyon
only Fate has talked me out of it.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 05/03/2011 16:03

Otis, Ivo, Clementine, Theo, Iris

Penelope1980 · 05/03/2011 05:23

Max - it's the name of my mother's cat.

I prefer Nyree spelt the Maori way, Ngaire.

Greenwing · 04/03/2011 23:32

No Miriam or Elinor.
I had five sons instead!

LucretiaInShadows · 04/03/2011 16:26

Katja/Catalina - really don't work with the surname. :-(

Whyriskit · 03/03/2011 14:09

Finn - with our surname it sounds like a make of crispy pancake. Innes and Murdo I loved but DH didn't. Two DS's and no more, so no Aila either.

FooffyShmoofffer · 03/03/2011 14:00

There will be no Alexander or Imogen Shmoofffer.

If there is it will be a shock and a half!

Maternelle · 03/03/2011 13:54

Edern is also a village in Brittany, and a Saint!

ConstanceFelicity · 03/03/2011 08:58

Maternalle Edern is a lovely little village in NOrth Wales. :)

fifi25 · 02/03/2011 21:57

Ive got a Niamh and she bloody hates her name with a passion. I choose Erin and dad choose Niamh, she wishes she was called Erin...mams know best Smile

Maternelle · 02/03/2011 21:54

Niamh (too difficult when living in France)
Edern (DC3 is a girl)

greedychops · 02/03/2011 21:50

Octavia - don't plan to have 8 and I guess it might be odd otherwise.

Lonnie · 02/03/2011 21:46

Otis (we only had 1 boy think i could have talked dh into it)

Sebastian (dh hates it)

Monica (our oldest was named Phoebe)

rusmum · 02/03/2011 21:13

Olive XX

chinateacup · 02/03/2011 21:00

Milo - but only because it's the name of the neighbour's cat. Hoping we may reinstate it at some future point but I just don't think so. And it was No1 name for DS until we moved in here at 6 months Sad

Some great but wasted names on this thread ...

2babyblues · 02/03/2011 20:44

I had lots of girls names lined up, not actually sure what I would have chosen but these are some of them:

Kitty (Katherine)
Lydie (Lydia)
Daisy
Betsy (Elizabeth)
Caitlin
Emily
Isabella

NotSoPukeyMummy · 02/03/2011 17:30

Our surname is the name of a tree.

So, no Willows, Hazels, Laurels or Rowans will be joining our brood.

Nor any overly-botanical names Sad.

birdofthenorth · 02/03/2011 15:30

Indigo, vetoed by DH, probably rightly, but I'll always live it!

ConstanceFelicity · 01/03/2011 04:10

Not sure that I should...

The closest I can come to a translation is "wise up" or "get wise". But obviously it would be pronounced with a Welsh "ll", and I think I'm right in saying that only North and mid-Walians would use it.

It's a lovely name. :)

TruthSweet · 01/03/2011 01:32

ConstanceFelicity - I know in Greek Callia means 'beautiful' and in Welsh Seren means 'star' but I didn't know Callia had a meaning in Welsh too! Very curious as to what it means, so do tell.

olddeuteronomy · 28/02/2011 18:51

Just had my second dc, a lovely little boy (dc 1 is a girl) 4 weeks ago, and am obviously thrilled but am slightly wistful for the name Esther, which was my girl's name, which have now fallen in love with - even contemplating having another already so might get to use it, though dp believes we are stopping at 2 (think it must be hormones!)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/02/2011 14:16

Betsy/Betty
Tess
Posy
Trilby

TruthSweet so do you have a Callia Seren? That is a sentence in Welsh! :o

fifi25 · 28/02/2011 11:56

Mine was Ethne, never got to use it and never will. Since then i have done my family tree and Isabella, Annie and Thomasine were names used in my side of the family for generations. I would probably have used one of these had i known Sad
