Hi all, we rushed a little for a passport but I'm still unsure about our DDs name. We named her April Lily but I'm very anxious that she'll be teased, Ape / April fool etc. I love Lily too but there are 6 already in my older sons year. Other names I love are Gracie, Hope, Tilly, Niamh, Florence & Lottie. I generally call her Baby (like Dirty Dancing!) and Honey Pie etc so she doesn't know her name yet either. This does really upset me as I love her lots and lots and lots but just want the perfect name for her. I don't know what to do and think it has driven me bonkers. Help or suggestions please...

I can sympathise completely (see my post on regrets!). However I really like the name April. Haven't heard it for ages and its quite unusual and very pretty! I know what you mean about not using it at all, but as someone suggested to me, maybe try feeling positive and practice calling her her name out loud might help... I don't think either that its a name that would mean she was teased.

April Lily is a very nice name :) I don't think there's any more potential for teasing than quite a few other names.

I also like Gracie (if a nickname for Grace), Hope and Florence.

I have an Irish surname and roots so wanted to use the Irish spelling Smile

I like it its just a shame she dislikes it so much. She broke her arm and had to have loads of hospital visits and i think it gets to her when they shout Neeam. Ive gave her the story of Niamh an Oisin to read but she still hates it. I have 3 daughters and its hard choosing names so i sympathise.

Thanks fifi25, I wonder how it would be if it was spelled Neve? Niamh is a v pretty name, I bet all 10 year olds complain about their names!

Dont use Niamh, i have a 10yr old ones whos sick of telling people what her name is. I woulnt worry about it, my youngests Connie-Jean, i liked Connie but not the Jean, It has grew on me. I loved Niamh and my daughter hates it and gets teased at school about it Nee-am Niamph etc.
