Any suggestions?

If any of you have Eloise, do people often mispronounce it? Or do people call them as Elle or Ellie? Are your girls happy to be Eloise???

I have an Eloise. Her name is not normally shortened and she does not have a nickname. I think that its because there are so many Ellies and Ellas around, that they don't want another Ellie / Ella and so she is always called by her full name.

It is always pronounced Eh - low - ease. I've read on here that some people do pronounce it Ell-wazs, but no-one has ever called my daughter that. We do have it occasionally misspelt Elouise too.

My daughter loves her name, when I asked her why she said "because it is pretty and unusual". She knows of only one other Eloise (and that is out of two different schools of over 270 in each school - the Eloise she knows is from her social group, she has always been the only Eloise in all the schools (2) and nurseries (2) she has attended.) and all her friendship groups. Incidentally, since 1998 Eloise has never gone higher than 75 in the baby names stats, so whilst you might get pockets of popularity, overall it has never been hugely popular.

I have an Eloise.

Elle-oh-eeze.

She's known mostly as Ellie through our choice. Not heard it mispronounced but got a few mispellings on the congratulations cards (Elouise).

No idea if she likes it as she's only 8 months but, personally I'd love to be called Eloise Wink

Dropping the 'h' from hello, then 'eeze'
Does that make sense?!
