How do you pronounce ELOISE?

Any suggestions?

If any of you have Eloise, do people often mispronounce it? Or do people call them as Elle or Ellie? Are your girls happy to be Eloise???

My dd is Eloise, it's a french version of louise.
We've never encountered any mispronunciations.

DD loves being the only one in a school of 250!

Reshape - Eloise is spelled Héloïse in French:

hé = EH

lo = LO

ise = EEZ

Some people actually put a u in there, making it Elouise, which would then be pronounced Ell-oo-eeze. I don't like this variation personally.

Ell-o[like Tom]-eeze would be bloody difficult to pronounce.

I mean my question is:

Elle o (Tom) eese ?

OR

Elle o (Tom) oo (good) weese ?

My husband is really keen on this name but I can't seem to be able to pronounce it well.

Doesn't Heloise have those two little dots over the O? So definitely El Oh Eeze, not El Wahz.

Héloise is a French name, and probably is pronounced Eyl-wahze, but Eloise - never heard that pronounced the French way. It's probably the Anglicised version, like Mary is the Anglicised version of Marie (also pronounced differently) :)

in the odd occasions in which people address me as thus, those people do not know that in my head I have flicked them hard upon the forehead and immediately prejudiced them as a pretentious twat.

Elle-oh-eeze. I knew a lovely little girl called Eloise, no-one ever shortened it or gave her a nickname.
