DH's crazy name ideas

FancyALittle · 23/02/2011 18:51

Which are OK and which should be dismissed... I've lost all sense of perspective. There a couple of Hmm I reckon.

April
Emily
Rose/Rosie/Rosanna
Matilda

George
Jonah
Felix
Dorian
Ezra

Does anyone else have any slightly crazy suggestions from their DH?

notanumber still PMSL at your post! I good heads up on what naughty DH might try and do! I can so imagine my DH doing this and our poor baby being called something terrible!

My DH comes up with crazy names, I dutifully write them down, he forgets, and then he thinks I have come up with them and looks at me like I am mad!!! (and totally denies it!)

birdofthenorth · 25/02/2011 21:48

They are all fine except Dorian, bit girly and very Dorian Grey

mathanxiety · 25/02/2011 19:21

Dorian, April and Emily are pretty dire, but the rest are not bad at all.

TobyLerone · 25/02/2011 13:50

I lobbied for 'Skywalker' as a middle name, but it was vetoed :(

BalloonSlayer · 25/02/2011 13:36

Bad connotations for some I think:

Jonah - jinx/bringer of bad luck

Dorian - incredibly evil man/ sexually-predatory older woman

DamselInDisguise · 25/02/2011 13:34

DH suggested Ace and Slevin. And he was serious.

I really don't see what you're worrying about.

MmeLindt · 25/02/2011 13:31

Oh, I am really disappointed.

I was expecting Anakin or Sky-Walker.

Not keen on Ezra or Dorian, but the other names are fine.

Emily and Mathilda are my favourites of the girls' names.

George and Jonah of the boys.

flopsy1974 · 25/02/2011 13:28

I think all the girls name choices are lovely, and I like George and Jonah from your boys list. All pretty normal names if you ask me.

breatheslowly · 25/02/2011 11:46

April - as long as DD was born in April. Dorian makes me think of a picture of Dorian Grey which didn't end well and Birds of a Feather. Felix is a cat to me. I wouldn't go for Ezra or Jonah either, but I have very conservative taste when it comes to boys names.

aliceelinsmum · 25/02/2011 10:35

I think you've got away lightly - my husband liked Ace and Ford for a boy

TobyLerone · 24/02/2011 11:10

I think they're lovely. Emily is perhaps a little dull/common, although very pretty.

My ex-husband had 'Orion' on his list for our son.

ValiumSingleton · 24/02/2011 11:08

Felix George would be nice

and Emily is very pretty but so popular. The girls names are all normal.

bloomingnora · 24/02/2011 09:15

Dorian (as in scrubs) is in fact the character's surname though. Enough reason to veto, I think. I am now considering having another child in order to use the name Rolex. Or maybe we could get a guinea pig.

OliveMalay · 24/02/2011 08:53

I would lose Matilda and Dorian.

fifi25 · 23/02/2011 23:10

I had Ethne on list for youngest 2 and he hated that but is still love it. No chance of using it now though Sad

hotnspicyonions · 23/02/2011 22:53

I have been scarred by Lexi after hearing a mum in my local chippy shout at her DD "Stop doing that Rolex!" I kid you not, and now my DS is in the same class as dear 'Lexie' at school!

DP likes Ezra, I like all the girls names.

girlfromdownsouth · 23/02/2011 22:41

Hee hee, my DD is called Emily Rose so I think they are pretty normal names...Smile

fifi25 · 23/02/2011 21:52

Roxy and Lexi were his choice, i hated them, no offence to anyone who used them.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/02/2011 21:46

I went to uni with a Dorian (female)

Better than my DH suggestions.

notanumber · 23/02/2011 21:44

Oh, but Jonah is nice. Pick Jonah.

notanumber · 23/02/2011 21:43

It could be a trick.

My DH refused - point blank refused - to discuss names properly with me both times.

Nightly I would suggest twenty-five names. He'd say "no" to every single one.

Every now and again he would suprise me by suggesting a name, only the the name would be Nigel or Linda or Deborah or something and he'd wander off snickering at my bemused expression.

When DS and DD were born and I was off my face on sleep-deprivation and morphine in the delivery room, he said, "what about SensibleName?"

I was so gobsmacked that he'd (a)suggested a name and (b)it wasn't Brenda or Roger, I immediately said "yes, ok". At which point he texted the world to announce the name.

The fucker.

JojoMags · 23/02/2011 21:28

April,Ezra and Dorian are awful imo. Jonah is not my cup of tea either, but the rest are OK. Love Matilda and Rosanna.

Rhubarbgarden · 23/02/2011 21:15

April is beautiful.

randomimposter · 23/02/2011 21:04

Faves
Rosanna then Matilda
Ezra then George

But all ok - least keen on April and Dorian.

thisisyesterday · 23/02/2011 20:12

i think they're all very normal names actually!

Dorian and Ezra are fairlyt uncommmon, i'll give tou that, but the rest are all very popular at the moment
