Beautiful name and many big congratulations ! My daughter is Martha so I love it and I agree with the poster who said it is soft but strong.

Invisiblesoul · 20/03/2011 11:57

Aaah, didn't read the whole thread! Congratulations! Fwiw I like Martha too!

Invisiblesoul · 20/03/2011 11:55

Im Kate. And I love it. As I child I was Katie-boo. It sounds good with my married name, it sounds good when I'm in professional circumstances, it's a strong, feisty and confident name. One vote for Kate

specialsmasher · 20/03/2011 11:46

Thanks, Martha - it really suits her, and we are really pleased with the name now she's here - Kate not right at all somehow!

Hey! Congrats!
I'm another 'real-life' Martha. Nobody had the name when I was growing up and although I didn't like it really as a child, I did like the fact that my name was unusual. I still do!
Martha Elisabeth is lovely.

redexpat · 15/03/2011 21:05

IMO the name Kate doesn't date, ever. Also works in several languages. Can't say the same for Martha.

alexaj · 14/03/2011 19:43

Martha... Kate's kinda everyone's-done-that.

jaggythistle · 14/03/2011 01:11

congratulations. :)

stayfree · 13/03/2011 22:26

Martha :) We couldn't have it as it was an ex of dp's name lol!

UrsulaBuffay · 13/03/2011 22:22

Aw lovely! My DDs mn is Elisabeth, it's lovely and I would've had Martha if not for DH! Congratulations (Good idea keeping Kate for the next one...)

smother · 13/03/2011 21:54

Hey, hey, hey.. congratulations!!!! that is wonderful news! As I said before, I was thinking about you and wondering how it all turned out... and what can I say, Martha Elisabeth is an absolutely gorgeous name - the PERFECT choice! I'm secretly - or not so secretly - really pleased you went for Martha in the end. Enjoy!!!!

PepsiPopcorn · 13/03/2011 21:29

Please let us know when your daughter is born and what you decide!

breadandhoney · 08/03/2011 16:28

I think Kate is a beautiful name, would highly consider it if there is a DD2, but am kinda worried that there will end up being lots of new Kates now with the royal wedding. bloody annoying, esp when our liking it has nothing to do with Middleton!! Sorry but I don't like Martha, just can't imagine a pretty Martha. Sorry!

pipplin · 08/03/2011 16:07

Good luck! Martha has my vote. I know a lovely Martha :)

babytrekkie · 08/03/2011 16:03

Oh you'll obviously have to let us all know what you choose in the end!!!

BarbieLovesKen · 08/03/2011 15:52

Best of luck specialsmasher. It has to be Kate!!!

babytrekkie · 08/03/2011 15:51

This is fun!! I prefer Katherine or Catherine as it looks classy when written down and also sounds beautiful. Best wishes with everything xx

smother · 08/03/2011 15:42

I was excited when I saw this, I thought little martha-kate-? had arrived!! good luck with it all, hope you're managing to get a bit of rest while you wait!

LadyCLC · 08/03/2011 12:07

Def Martha - I love it and have already chosen it for a middle name if we have a girl.

Fourleaf · 08/03/2011 11:58

Hi, I prefer Martha. BUT the main thing I wanted to say is I really don't think you can decide before you see her :) Just keep that as your shortlist and see what she looks like, IMVHO. I was torn between two names but when DS was born it was v v obvious Grin

specialsmasher · 08/03/2011 10:49

Still no baby - I will let kind contributors know what was decided (those who want to know!) if she ever actually comes out!

Martha Kate for sure. You could even hyphenate or use the whole thing in one, Martha Kate. Martha Katherine sounds nice too.
