Worst spelling of perfectly ordinary names? Elyviya anyone?

I have met a Danyal, Daniol, Naiphthan, Caytie and an Alivia. Why do people consign their children to a life time of 'no, that's Daniel spelt...'? Any equally terrible ones out there?

I guess you must be in the UK if you are watching cbeebies. Do the parents maybe not speak/write English?

The only one I know is Madeline rather than Madeleine and maybe that's just an alternative rather than wrong.

Vylet is my birth name. I have always liked that my name was different. It's in fact a Czech word meaning small trip or jaunt.
Kinda aggravates me when people assume I would rather spell it Violet. That's not my name. I am not VI-O-LET.

There is Oisin (Osh-sheen) who is a figure from Irish mythology, it means 'Little Deer'.

I was recently served in a shop by someone called 'Heaven-Leigh' Hmm

DS has a very standard (but lovely, IMO) traditional name but DH's family just can't spell it. We've received a card addressed to 'Benjermin' this year Angry

There is a (an actual real!) boy's name Osian, though which I think is pronounced like Ocean but slightly more Oh-see-an, so perhaps that is where the recent craze for Ocean stems from. I met a woman whose daughter was called Ocean once years ago (the girl would be about 18 by now) and I was a bit ShockConfused by it, but I wouldn't bat an eyelid now and it has sort of grown on me.

The ones I also met that still grate on me years later though, are Priory and Kenyon for girls. Kenyon is yuk and Priory is just silly.

I know someone who's a primary teacher in London and has a child in his class whose name is spelt K-A , pronounced kadasha - are the parents nutters !!!

I think i would tbh, if i really disliked it. I'm nit mad about my name, but it's not offensive.

Actually upon reading up on him, D'Brickashaw sounds like a cool guy.

Still a rubbish name though. :)
