DS2, a brother for Benjamin (who is never Ben!), is due in a few weeks. We have the following shortlist, and I'm not necessarily looking to get it down to one name before he arrives, but would be interested to know how these names are perceived - what do you think these names say about their owners (if anything)? I want DS to have a good, solid (but hopefully not boring) name that won't limit his options in life, and in particular I am keen to avoid a "fashion" name that we might regret in a few years:

Christopher (not shortened)
Kit (Christopher, shortened)
Magnus
Jude (love, but have concerns over this being a 'now' name)
Peter
George

Thank you.

Christopher (not shortened)
Kit, Jude - north London middle class with mums who do ver loud parenting in public places

Magnus - 'my parents wanted people to think they were quirky'

Christopher, Peter, George - thoroughly sensible types

I love Peter and Magnus. Really lovely. Peter is ds's middle name and I sometimes wish I had used it as his first.

Kit is lovely, but only as a nn for Christopher.
Jude - fine, prefer Julius or Julian and Jude as a nn.
George - nice. Just nice.

Christopher - classic, nice for any age
Kit - silly, dislike
Magnus - older man
Jude - quite nice, would think he had trendy parents
Peter - lovely classic name, sensible, friendly
George - see Peter

Thank you thumbwitch, that is the kind of feedback I'm looking for, rather than just "like / don't like"!

Christopher - full name links to an exceedingly camp/gay hairdresser in my head
Kit - either a talking car or an exceptional young man from a Heyer novel
Magnus - Pike or Magnusson
Jude - Law or Obscure
Peter - good solid strong name
George - slightly overweight, rather dull

That's just my thoughts though - they're all fine as names.
