DC3 due in 2 weeks (elcs) and have no boys name at all. Have 2 DD's and have a third DD name which DH and I are happy with. We have thought of these boys names which we think are ok, but nothing that seems just right as with our DD's names previously. Our surname is similar to Lowe and these are the two names - Joseph (Joe) and Adam. Honest opinions please?! TIA.

If you don't like popular I wouldn't go with either Adam or Joe either then, I know about 10 of each under 11yo.

How about
Angus
Miles
Matthew (also v v popular tho)
William (ditto)

Adam is the first man so is good strong name but I love Dylan, max, Joshua, Oliver, luca and Benjamin.

teafortwo · 20/02/2011 21:31

I quite like -

Isaac
Amory
Emerson
Kit
Jude

underachieving - I really do love the name Peter. It is simple, masculine but gentle sounding and the meaning (rock) seems so very special to me.

MummyofPip · 20/02/2011 21:18

What about Harrison which could be shortened to Harry?

HalleLouja · 20/02/2011 18:10

Adam is the best name for boys. Not that I am biased.

Also like

Luke
Matthew
Ben
Max
Alex

Not sure if that helps.

How about Samuel (Sam), it's sort of similar to Joseph/Thomas etc in that I sort of think it's an honest, likeable kind of a name, if that makes sense.

geisha · 20/02/2011 10:40

Thomas, Jack and Oliver are a little too popular in my area for my liking, I know of 5, 4 and 3 respectively. Not keen on Andrew.

We considered Gabriel, Finn (Finley), Ethan, Harry and Zach but counted them out for one reason or another. May need to think again about Harry.

It's so hard and tbh I'm starting to panic! Adam is a 'nice' name but that's about it and the only reason we would pick it is because it's ok. Ditto Joseph really, but I was concerned about Joe Lowe sounding silly. Just needed someone who could be objective to tell me so! Any other ideas?!

Prefer Joseph but sadly not with your surname.

Quite like Adam.

Hard to say without knowing your DD names, but how about

James
Harry
Gregory

Glamour · 20/02/2011 09:59

well you cant go wrong with Adam i suppose for your simple run of the mill name!

im not a fan of joseph!

EauRouge · 20/02/2011 09:55

I wouldn't go with Joseph is your surname is similar to Lowe, Joe Lowe sounds a bit silly. Adam is lovely though.

tummytickler · 20/02/2011 09:44

I prefer Joseph. I have always disliked the name Adam. Not sure why. It is just so bland.
