Dylan James?

We are thinking of the above for our DS due in 4 weeks, but I've just read an old thread that says Dylan is considered by teachers to be a chavvy name (few years ago though) - anyone got any thoughts?

Also, is James a really commonly used middle name?

Thanks!

I do know a Dylan James - and his parents are teachers. I like it!

sam12 · 20/02/2011 02:26

I also know a Dylan who has teacher parents. I like it too.

CharlieBoo · 20/02/2011 08:08

I like it, but much prefer James as a first name.

kitkat1000 · 20/02/2011 08:27

I think Dylan is nicer - there are far too many James out there - its the new Jack! - will be a nightmare come school time!

mamadiva · 20/02/2011 08:43

I think it's nice, middle names barely get used anyway.

I have always thought the 'chav' name was a myth, it often evolves and at some point everyone's name is included. It started off with foreign sounding names, then normal names, then old names and I think it is now slebs from what I gather.

Pick something you like and screw what anyone else thinks!

FWIW DS is 'chav name' then James middle name.

I would'nt have used James had it nto been for the fact that it has been 5 generations of first name in DP's family, but I compramised and it does sound quite nice when used which is not very often :)

lovely. Not chavvy at all

I like both Dylan and James.

randomimposter · 20/02/2011 11:23

Really like Dylan, James is also nice (but a bit of a Rose or Grace as a MN choice?)
Personally prefer
Dylan Joseph

I have a Dylan James (and a camper van, oddly) :)

I love it obviously, we know no other Dylans so it's not common around here. James was my Dads name so would have used it whatever but it is quite common as a middle name.

CountBapula · 20/02/2011 12:25

My DS is Dylan James so obviously I think it's lovely Grin

We had so many compliments on his name when he was born.

CountBapula · 20/02/2011 12:29

Oh, and we chose James as his middle name because it is DH's, my dad's and my brother's middle name.

darleneconnor · 20/02/2011 12:34

DS's BF is Dylan James. And yes he fits the stereotype.
