baby name regrets still at 8 months

Still having regrets every so often about my DS name at 8 months old. Just not sure its too 'now' and doesn't really suit him. We chose it at the last minute at the 6 weeks deadline to get him registered as we couldn't agree.. Really wanted a classic name for my DS but worry he's got a 'fashion' name now. Sometimes I can't sleep at night for thinking is it too late to change it and he'll have to live with it! And I'm not sure I can but i know family and DP would think me crazy. Cant use any of his middle names either, we really didn't choose well for him. Thinking I should change one of his middle names and then start calling him this!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow, Isaac isn't what I was expecting. Not a dificult name for him to live with I wouldn't have thought.

I know one Isaac, 11 years old.

candleshoe · 19/02/2011 20:47

It is a jewish/old testament name ... it is fine!

hopnpop · 19/02/2011 20:46

Sometimes i think yes i love it but then i can think of no-one of my generation who is called it or my parents (incidentally i don't think either set of grandparents like the name much which has probably not helped!). So it isn't very timeless. SO sorry to everyone with DS called Isaac out there!!!

I know how you feel as I am not sure my ds2's name is right for him but if it helps I thnk Isaac is a really beautiful and classic name, I really don't think of it as a 'fashion' name at all

Janus · 19/02/2011 20:43

Oh I really like Isaac, thought you were gonna come up with something like Harvey (nothing wrong with that either but a bit faddy maybe?). I think Isaac is quite traditional and I don't actually know any Isaacs.

I am having my fourth child and am absolutely stuck, we have 3 girls and I feel like this one will be a girl and I have used up all my favourite names!! I'm sure you will grow to love it given more time and when he starts having a bit more personality and you can think of him as 'Isaac' IYKWIM.

Isaac is lovely, Doesn't sound too fashionable. Some children just take time to grow into their name, ds took 11 years Grin

washngo · 19/02/2011 20:42

Isaac is a lovely, and imo a classic name. I'm a teacher and have only ever taught one Isaac. Don't worry, presumably you chose it in the first place because you like the name?

MoonUnitAlpha · 19/02/2011 20:42

I think Isaac is lovely and classic, doesn't sound like a fashion name to me!

PaisleyLeaf · 19/02/2011 20:41

I think Isaac is fashionable and classic.

I have had feelings like this too, but now ds is 2.5 I realise that it suits him, and that I liked it wihout realising how popular it is, so the fact that I liked it is what really matters. His name is archibald, but of course we call him archie. What is your ds called?
