Struggling to think of a name that's going to suit my little princess....she is half indian half white. Daddy is quite fair but then i am quite tanned as have spanish in my family! So she's going to be a mix!
Wanted an indian name that wasnt too traditional but then wasn't too british? We kinda have our hearts set on Savannah-Rose as Rose is my middle name but my other halfs brother is called Savan and if we were to ever shorten her name it would be Sav - the same as his!!!

HELP!!

xx

From your list I would choose:

Maya-Rose (definitely not Mya-this spelling isn't used in India and is made up as far as I know).
Shreya-Rose (Shreya is really pretty but I was a little put off by Shrek)! I do find Shreya followed by Rose a bit tricky to say.
India-Rose (ditto Mya on the spelling).

Personally, I don't like hyphenated names and think Rose would be nicer as a mn.
Good luck with the LO :)

DuchessofKirkcaldy · 30/03/2011 21:45

I would name her Shreya. I think it is really lovely and less used than some of your other choices. It also reflects her heritage. I knew a little girl called Shreya and she was beautiful x

Firawla · 30/03/2011 19:52

I would go for Shreya or Mya

Lainey1981 · 30/03/2011 13:59

Mya rose is my favourite from your list. If i had a dd think Mya would be on my shortlist
Just to add another name into the mix, i Love the name Anisa (a nee sa) so pretty.

Mum2Pea · 30/03/2011 13:37

Agree, Shreya Rose is my favourite.
Definitely prefer an indian - english name to reflect the mixed heritage

migola · 30/03/2011 10:10

(just my personal preference but I wouldn't hyphenate it) Smile

migola · 30/03/2011 10:09

out of your list there Savannah I would definitely go for Shreya-Rose. Personally I think it would be a shame to go for something like Ava or Eva because you are so lucky to be 'able' to choose an Indian name - so many of them are beautiful, so I would think it would be a waste not to use one! Also, as much as they are lovely names, Ava and Eva are so overused atm

Sportsmum · 30/03/2011 08:38

Mya-Rose - imo - it sounds lovely

GooseyLoosey · 30/03/2011 08:33

I have friends who are Indian/white and they wanted names from both cultures for their children. Their daughter is called Tara.

SavannahRose · 30/03/2011 08:27

Well ladies finally down to the short list see what you think (as only have 10 weeks left and daddy wants to buy her a bracelet with name engraved on)

1: Savannah-Rose
2: Ava-Rose
3: Eva-Rose
4: Shreya-Rose
5: Mya-Rose
6: Indya-Mae

Comments welcome!

My daughter is half Indian (dad Indian, mum complete European mix). We considered Pia, Nina, Maya and Nalini. In the end Pia was her second name and she has an English/French first name. I think Savannah-Rose is lovely - just go for what you like most and what seems right for her. I just knew the moment I saw my daughter that our favourite name was right for her.

tiptoptally · 11/03/2011 23:32

I knew a lovely half english/half indian girl called Asha.

Kalai? (not sure how you spell it, it's pronounced Kah-lie)

winkle2 · 11/03/2011 10:35

I'm Indian and my OH is English.

What about Jasmeena?

Love all the ''aia'' souning names like Jaia, Anaia, Naya. I think Rania is a lovely name (pronounced Ranaya).

Mina?

I have a white friend who's fiancee is a Mahal of India. They named their baby Leela-Rose. Leela meaning Rose in Indian (I think!) and Rose for English. Hope she doesn't kill me for sharing!

CrazyHorse · 03/03/2011 18:52

Aaliyah is beautiful! Smile Is it Indian? Confused

I thought Suraya was a boys name. Hmm

Friend of mine has 2 half indian/english dc.
DS is called Hari.
DD is called Mili Rose!

Kezzamo · 27/02/2011 11:12

Savannahrose I like it! You could always shorten it to Anna instead of Sav? ir insist she is called her full name. I know plenty of people called Rebecca who are always known as that, never Becky. I know its really hard once you have set your heart on a name! I really want Amelia Mae and set my heart on it before we conviced! I cant think about any boys names at all!!!

If its what you really like then go for it! xx
