not sure that Lula is a good nickname, round here it means ladybits Shock

ValiumSingleton · 28/02/2011 08:40

that's why so many actresses have chosen that name.

KAEKAE · 28/02/2011 00:32

Sorry who cares about the handbag...that really wouldn't put me off at all!

I taught a 14 year old Tallulah once and it so so didn't suit her. I don't know how to explain it but she was painfully shy and I don't think the name helped. If that makes sense.

missedthebus · 27/02/2011 23:46

Ive got a 7 year old Tallulah-its a great name-only one in her class,Brownies ect -not sure if becoming more popular now. You like it go for it.

DaphneHeartsFred · 27/02/2011 23:23

psiloveyou - Tula make handbags. Nice ones admitedly (well, I like my Tula purse), but a Tula is still a handbag. So not that good a name.

I think it's quite sweet and I love Lula as a nn. But tbh, if you're the kind of person who would choose it as a first name, then chances are that any other name you choose is likely to be quite 'strong' and therefore controversial. If you don't want controversy then call your kid Sarah and live with it, otherwise be true to yourself.

muminthemiddle · 27/02/2011 23:17

I don't like it.

exoticfruits · 27/02/2011 19:27

Yes it is-in answer to OP!

psiloveyou · 27/02/2011 19:12

Oh Tula is lovely I'd use that.

psiloveyou · 27/02/2011 19:09

I love it but I don't think I would have the nerve to actually use it. Blush

DaffadownDilly · 27/02/2011 18:59

Entrepreneur, teacher, lawyer, scientist, business woman (ad nauseam)?

ShatnersBassoon · 27/02/2011 15:36

I can't imagine what an adult Tallulah might do for a living. It seems a bit of a silly, little girly name.

KAEKAE · 27/02/2011 15:32

Years ago I loved this name, but people put me off and more and more celebs starting using it..therefore, I ended up crossing it off my list. I like Tula as a NN.

SherbetDibDab · 27/02/2011 10:17

I like it. Very feminine but not in a wet, girly sort of a way.

meditrina · 27/02/2011 10:09

I love it!

Sadly DH didn't. But my mother (in her 80s) loved it too - she sees it as a good Irish name (sleb trends don't reach her).

JiltedJohnsJulie · 27/02/2011 10:09

Truely awful.

paulbrom · 27/02/2011 09:51

OP are you getting a lot of disapproval from family? It is a bit of a "stripper's name" though there seem to be lots of little ones around so the associations will get much more positive.
If you love it and have your heart set on it, go for it, but give her a "sensible" name (Grace, Claire, something like that?) too so she'll have a choice and you can silence the haters! If you are a bit unsure you could always register Tallulah as her middle name but call her by it, then she's got her Sunday name for work, etc.
Good luck, people will come round in time (I know someone who picked something much less exotic but got LOADS of grief from PILs, she stuck to her guns and it's fine now).

WishIWasRimaHorton · 26/02/2011 22:56

yep - it truly is that bad.

jennifersofia · 26/02/2011 22:52

Not awful, not stupid, lovely! I know one, and she is a really great kid (10).

spottyock · 26/02/2011 22:46

I think Tallulah is OK. Non offensive. See her just as plantsitter describes.

activate · 26/02/2011 20:04

I really love Tallullah

Tallulah does the hula

it's fab

for a chicken

NinkyNonker · 26/02/2011 19:59

Yes

5DollarShake · 26/02/2011 09:48

It's a daft name, IMO. But it would be a boring world if we all liked the same names!
