So we've had a thread recently about the best surnames, and I was wondering what the worse ones you've come across are.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

At school i knew a Mr Brown, not that bad, you may think but when his first name is Ash...

BaggedandTagged · 18/02/2011 08:08

I always wonder why Ed Balls didn't change his name by deed poll once he decided he had aspirations to be the PM.

Currently, he's just making life too easy for the headline writers.

I have a friend who swears blind he went to school with a boy whose surname was Sprout. First name? Why, Russell, of course.

fridakahlo · 18/02/2011 03:59

mouffloncake · 17/02/2011 21:45

knitpicker · 17/02/2011 17:38

I knew a Danish girl whose surname was Klitguard.
ROLF at Butkis

Trinaluce · 17/02/2011 17:25

I work for the appointments dept in a hospital so I get to see a lot of unfortunate surnames. Unfortunately I also have to ring them and ask to speak to them....

Recently:
Bottoms
Butkis
Hoare
Hooker
Glasscock
Badcock
Goodcock

And many years ago in another business we had Mrs Starwarz. When I rang her I got a very curt 'It's Sta-vash'....

Odelay · 17/02/2011 14:51

Our headmaster was treblecock but pronounces treebeelco

Local headmaster now is dick head, yes Richard head actually calls himself dick. The mind boggles

I knew a John hoare. He changed it in his late teens to his mothers maiden name

YeahWhatevah · 17/02/2011 14:43

Sacha (Bender) may have been a diminutive of Alexander. Better Sacha than A. Bender.

glittershoes · 17/02/2011 14:38

I know a Dick Tingle and a Jim Dick.

DelicateFluffyBunny · 16/02/2011 23:26

My maiden name is Dick. Spent my highschool years being asked if my middle name was Sucks or Loves. Oh the hilarity. Hmm

QwertyQueen · 16/02/2011 23:24

Cockburn

pronounced "coburn" - how convenient!

Also a Richard Kiss
who actually had his shortened name -Dick - on his business card!

preghead · 16/02/2011 23:12

I work with someone called sacha bender, never met him face to face, just conf calls, really it hard not to snort when he comes on and announces himself

timetomove · 16/02/2011 23:09

heffalumpbump · 16/02/2011 23:02

Went to school with a girl called:

Emma Widdefucher (pronouced widefucker)

Think family were of Arican decent. None of us believed it when she first started... Poor girl. (blush)

HeartShapedValiumSandwich · 16/02/2011 21:47

Condon, Hoare, Cox, all quite normal in Ireland. But Condon is virtually the same as condom so I wouldn't wish that on a school girl. Hoare, dreadful, change it fgs.

HeartShapedValiumSandwich · 16/02/2011 21:45

Knew a guy call Niblock and he was called Noblick for 6 years.

Wattinger · 16/02/2011 19:39
