Yesterday I suddenly had the name India come into my head if I ever have a girl. (we are TTC)

I casually mentioned it to partner who said Yes immediately which is unlike him.

He even put the middle name of jasmine which I was thinking with it unprompted.

So mumsnet jury what do you think?

bfp, congrats! well if it's a girl you have to call her India now. I love it, and it's always been on my girl name list.

OADCB · 26/02/2011 13:02

Well I have got a bfp so will be interesting to see if this name was more than a fleeting moment or not!0

It's lovely, even though the baby in Neighbours has this name!

OADCB · 20/02/2011 08:31

Thanks guys.

Looks like a name for the back burner anyway as TTC has failed again this month.

Don;t like it. It's too big a name for me.

bambiandthumper · 17/02/2011 17:04

I love love love it!

BabyTank · 17/02/2011 16:50

LOVE IT! Whether she was conceived there or not, I think it is a beautiful name.

OliveMalay · 17/02/2011 00:26

I don't like it, sorry. I just think of it as a place name.

riojaguzzler · 16/02/2011 22:07

Love it!!

Rhubarbgarden · 16/02/2011 21:00

Beautiful, love it. I know a red-head freckly India who isn't self concious or trendy at all, and she carries it off beautifully. She is a bit of a hippy though, come to think of it.

diddl · 16/02/2011 16:50

OP-if you both love it (a rare thing imo), then use itGrin

SilkStalkings · 16/02/2011 14:05

Self-consciously as in wanting to be seen as trendy/middle class/urban hippy. If I were a novelist and needed a name for the child of such a character, India would be my first choice. But then I am a self-conscious middle class urban hippy so I also think it's a nice name.

OADCB · 16/02/2011 10:07

Also what is meant by self conciously trendy? Genuine question just confused!

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 15/02/2011 21:39

Lovely name...

....but I can't think of it without doing the 'toast' that me and my mates always do when we're drinking....

'as they say in India......get it India (in-to-ya)'

Sorry Smile

justmilkpleasenosugar · 15/02/2011 21:32

I know an India she's in her 20's..stunning, blonde with bright blue eyes..! Her surname is very plain so it works really well.

I love the name and Indy is just an brilliant nn

booandbump · 15/02/2011 17:41

Lovely name

ThatllDoPig · 15/02/2011 17:32

Gorgeous name.

HeartShapedValiumSandwich · 15/02/2011 16:54

I prefer Lydia if like Kreecher says you have no connection to India. It's a pretty sound, but it's one of those self-consciously trendy names I think.

SilkStalkings · 15/02/2011 16:32

Don't forget India could conceivably just refer to the colour black, as in India ink.

serendipity16 · 15/02/2011 16:13

Beautiful, i love it.

BarbieLovesKen · 15/02/2011 15:35
