Too twee?

So two questions:

Is it impossibly twee to have 2 DD's both with "flower" names?

and

Catherine or Katherine?

Thoughts please?

Katherine. In ever understand how a Catherine can become a Kate Smile

KAEKAE · 25/02/2011 16:02

I think it depends on the flowers too. I have a Poppy and don't think I would go for Daisy even though I really like it...but I would go for Fleur, if I could get my DP to agree.

MirandaGoshawk · 11/02/2011 23:16

They are Lily, Rose and Heather.

MirandaGoshawk · 11/02/2011 23:16

Prefer Catherine, and I have a friend who has THREE DDs, all with flower names. It never struck me as odd.

Plonker · 11/02/2011 23:12

Sorry, should have read no to two flower names ...

Plonker · 11/02/2011 23:11

Katherine (lends itself to nicer nn's - Kate/Kitty/Katie, rather than Cath/Cathy)

And not to two flower names.

TransatlanticCityGirl · 11/02/2011 22:43

Lily and Iris are lovely and elegant, definitely not twee.

I prefer Catherine, for some reason the "C" feels softer to me.

Katherine

And 2 flower names fine I think - although i was not allowed by DH!

I have got a Poppy and so many people comment on what a lovely name she's got when they ask her.

I also have twin girls who I would have loved to call Daisy and Rosie, but like I said, was not allowed.

muminthemiddle · 11/02/2011 21:55

Definately Catherine which is the original spelling I think and the K version is the anglicised/incorrect(?) spelling Kathryn is the American phonetic spelling like Jorga so a no-no for me.

I think 2 flower names do go together as most people who like such names tend to go with a theme.

Ruthie32 · 11/02/2011 21:16

have you considered Violet?

growing3rdbump · 11/02/2011 09:30

mine too!

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/02/2011 22:44

Katherine (my name :) )

growing3rdbump · 10/02/2011 20:23

Katherine.

shouldnotbehere · 10/02/2011 11:57

Katherine

AllieW · 09/02/2011 15:58

Iris and Lily are gorgeous. Catherine is prettiest in my view.

NancyDrewHadaClue · 09/02/2011 15:55

I didn't even know you could spell Katharine with an "a" Blush

Funnily enough if DD had her way this baby would be Petal....or maybe sparkle!!

Jools Olivers daughters have all flower names, I think. They are really nice.

Ephiny · 09/02/2011 11:45

I like Katherine (or Kathryn) but that seems to be the minority view!

I think two flower names could be fine, a flower name doesn't have to be twee. Lily and Iris are nice. I like Viola as well.

VenetiaLanyon · 09/02/2011 11:42

Katharine so much better than Katherine or Catherine

ReturnOfTheBoomBap · 09/02/2011 11:37

Catherine. It's the classic spelling.

Lily, Rose, Iris, Violet, Daisy. All nice names. I don't think it's twee if they aren't really twee flower names, e.g. Pansy and Daffodil, or something Grin

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 09/02/2011 11:35

For me it has to be Catherine.

And there are flower names and flower names - I mean, you could choose Jessamine (old form of Jasmine) or Ianthe (means Violet), or Tansy which is a herb but none of them is obviously a flower name.

But, as it happens, I like Lily and Iris.

Mumsnut · 09/02/2011 11:25

Lily and Iris very fine!

Colyngbourne · 09/02/2011 11:15

Katherine

Two flower names are fine.
