QuestionNumber · 08/02/2011 00:40

Violet - like
Adeline - no
Ivy - like
Cassandra - OK, like nickname Cassie

cowboylover · 06/02/2011 19:53

I like Violet and Adeline but not sure on the others.

TallulahDoesTheHula · 06/02/2011 12:17

Love Violet (would pput it on my list but doesnt go with my surname!)
Like Ivy too
But not keen on others

takethatlady · 06/02/2011 11:24

Did you say how you would pronounce Adeline?

Don't know why people are reacting against it - personally I think it's lovely - pretty, classic and unusual :)

ElsieR · 06/02/2011 09:58

Violet, yes. Adeline, no no no.

piglet75 · 06/02/2011 09:31

Another vote for Violet! Also like Ivy, I have also seen it spelt Ivie, which I think is quite pretty.

Nightstar · 05/02/2011 22:36

IN order

Ivy
Cassandra
Violet

Cassandra was cursed, but she did have the gift.....

BarbieLovesKen · 05/02/2011 21:05

Beautiful and it reminds me immediately of that beautiful place in Anne of Green Gables..

allatsea1 · 05/02/2011 20:48

Adelaide is lovely isn't it but there's no way the hub would ever allow it!!

BarbieLovesKen · 05/02/2011 20:06

Oops and just realised allatsea1 suggested that Blush

BarbieLovesKen · 05/02/2011 20:05

Violet - beautiful
Adeline - dont like
Ivy - awful
Cassandra - awful

Would you consider Adelaide instead of Adeline - I think Adelaide is stunning.

JamieLeeCurtis · 05/02/2011 19:59

Cassandra (but prefer the nn Cassie) and Violet

Prefer Iris to Ivy

Don't like Adeline, sorry

allatsea1 · 05/02/2011 17:36

Adelaide rather then Adeline?

takethatlady · 05/02/2011 14:53

I like Adeline! Would you pronounce it Add-er-leen or Add-er-lein? I like the former and have seen it spelled Adelene to make sure :)

telsa · 05/02/2011 12:12

All lovely - I do have a special liking for Violet - and I think Cassandra is nice - the nickname Cassie is sweet.

LaTristesse · 05/02/2011 11:26

Violet or Ivy here...

BelligerentGhoul · 05/02/2011 10:08

I'm surprised how many people dislike Cassandra - we briefly contemplated it for dd1 although she would have been Cassie if we'd gone for it. I like Carrie too.

AllieW · 05/02/2011 09:03

I think Cassandra is the prettiest but the meaning is quite sad (she was cursed always to tell the truth but never to be believed).

HelenaRose · 05/02/2011 08:20

I'd add that nobody has referenced Only Fools and Horses when I tell them my name; our family didn't watch it so I didn't know there was a Cassandra in there until my teens.

HelenaRose · 05/02/2011 08:19

Violet - becoming more popular; I really like it
Adeline - on my own shortlist!
Ivy - a little too short for my tastes; I prefer names which are longer and can have nicknames
Cassandra - beautiful (though I am somewhat biased, since it's my name...)

violet and ivy are lovely.
i do know of 3 violets under 5 though, so becoming more popular, at least round here.

threefeethighandrising · 05/02/2011 00:22

Adeline is lovely.

Ivy and Violet are nice, but very old lady - which may or may not put you off.

I'm not overly keen on Cassandra - It also sounds very posh and English - but that might be what you're after? Grin Also she's a tragic figure in Greek mythology. Having said that I like it better than Ivy and Violet I think. and I do like the NN Cassie.

Stac2011 · 05/02/2011 00:13

it was aveline in bread but dont like either. Cassandra same as op's have said. Violet is probs the nicest and ivy reminds me of the woman in coronation street. What others were you thinking?
