I like Elsie, Rita and Florence from your list.

mathanxiety · 07/02/2011 15:20

I associate Dulcie with dulce de leche -- very sweet and dessertish, plus it has the syllable 'dull' that I find off-putting. Hence my thoughts on Dulcie and careers.

TransatlanticCityGirl · 07/02/2011 08:27

Let's be clear, BeeBox: Rita and Dulcie are NOT hideous names. They are just not to your liking. There's a difference.

LivingDeadGirl · 06/02/2011 23:32

Love Bonnie! My nephew would've been a Bonnie if he'd been a girl.

I also love Elsie as it was my grandmother's name. I've always had in mind if I have a daughter but DH isn't convinced so would prob have to settle for using it as a middle name.

Dulcie or Eliza

SameOldJollster · 06/02/2011 20:51

with your surname Betsy definitely.

Also love Eliza. Not wild about any of the others.

Basketcase28 · 06/02/2011 20:33

Bonnie. Definitely Bonnie.

Of course, i'm due in 2 weeks time and that's the name we're intending to call our baby, so i'm slightly biased... :)

BeeBox · 04/02/2011 22:27

I really like Bonnie, Betsy and Eliza. I like alliteration in mames, personally. Betsy Buchanan is a very cool name Grin

Florence/Elsie/Molly don't really rock my world.

Rita and Duclie are hideous.

TransatlanticCityGirl · 04/02/2011 20:17

I have to admit, when I first saw Dulcie, I thought 'nah...'

But Dulcie Buchanan is really cute. And the more I think about it the more it has grown on me.

I must disagree wholeheartedly with mathanxiety - I work for an Investment Bank and I can sooooo imagine a top trader being called that. It's easy to remember and stands out just enough.

From the rest of your list I quite like Elsie and Florence, although I'm wondering if they sound a bit 'elderly' with Buchanan?

They are all nice names however. :)

LemonDifficult · 04/02/2011 19:17

Neither, unless you're looking to name a golden retriever

fifi25 · 04/02/2011 19:10

I like Bonnie, I also like:

Bo
Ethne
Romile
Estelle

I have a Romilly which is not very common.

noddyholder · 04/02/2011 18:12

Rita

reikizen · 04/02/2011 18:11

I love Dulcie after reading a Barbara Pym novel recently but I can't actually picture calling a child that somehow. Rita is awful, sort of dowdy sounding. I like Bonnie in a friendly, happy little girl sort of way.

onimolap · 04/02/2011 18:10

Bonnie - more of a nn?
Dulcie - lovely
Ava - dull
Molly - ok
Eliza - lovely
Elsie - dull
Rita - no
Betsy - lovely as nn (Elizabeth)
Florence - lovely: good with your surname

freerangeeggs · 04/02/2011 18:06

I apologise in advance for saying this, but Betsy Buchanan is AWESOME.

It sounds like a name from a superhero comic. In a good way.

Minione · 04/02/2011 16:53

Dulcie, Elsie, Eliza and Florence are all gorgeous!

JojoMags · 04/02/2011 15:51

Betsy, Florence, Molly and Eliza all nice. Not keen on the rest.

mathanxiety · 04/02/2011 15:27

Bonnie - Beautiful
Dulcie - too 'now' and not good for serious careers
Ava - lovely, popular but lovely
Molly - dislike - I know too many dogs named Molly
Eliza - Beautiful
Elsie - scullery maid name
Rita - Beautiful
Betsy - lovely
Florence - stodgy Victorian

My favourites are
Bonnie
Eliza
Rita

with Betsy and Ava a close second.

I think I like Rita and Bonnie the best. Both gorgeous imo.

ensure · 04/02/2011 13:34

They're nice names. I'd guess Rita is the most unusual if that's important to you. I like Bonnie best I think with your surname.

DandyDan · 04/02/2011 13:22

You must have time-travelled out of The Great Gatsby with those names and surname - they sound marvellous. So a good thing you haven't included Daisy in the suggestions.

I'd go with Betsy, Molly or Elsie.

AllieW · 04/02/2011 13:00

I like Bonnie as nn for Bronwen, not as a stand alone. Dulcie has a lovely meaning, but I always hear "dull" unfortunately.

ValiumSandwichTime · 04/02/2011 12:45

I love them both! I prefer Dulcie though

CharlieBoo · 04/02/2011 12:39

Betsy Buchanan....love it, what an ace name....

Also adore Molly from your list
