Marnie
Orla
Lily
Anya
Esme

Be kind, I am feeling very hormonal and I might cry if you say you hate them. Grin

Love Anya

SarahScot · 03/02/2011 20:28

I really hope DD comes out with a name tag, this is too hard!

I'd say ES-mee because that's how it looks in English (without the accent).

SarahScot · 02/02/2011 20:18

I'd pronounce it Es-MAY.

Esme is lovely, do you pronounce it Es-MEE or Es-MAY? I know it has something to do with where the accent symbol thing goes but not sure which means which :)

fifi25 · 02/02/2011 20:06

Sadie the Bra ladies from the N.E so i could never use Sadie :)

fifi25 · 02/02/2011 20:05

Sarnie North East.

Grumpla · 02/02/2011 19:48

I love all of them except Lily.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/02/2011 19:40

Marnie is great. Surprised to see Orla in that group of names but love it.

SarahScot · 02/02/2011 19:32

Grin at 'Our Marni' in a scouse accent. We're scottish so wouldn't have that problem.

Also, the Marnie/Sarnie and Mardy Marnie comments - are these coming from Southerners? They're just not words I'd ever use or would occur to me, and I don't know anyone who uses them. It's interesting how accent and coloquial language influences how you view names. For example, in theory I love the name 'Pearl', but in a Scottish accent it becomes 'Perul' which is just hideous.

always loved Marnie but...
(and I'm sorry for this) was slightly put off it by my very lovely Liverpudlian friend pointing out how her family would refer to a child in their family with that name.....
'Our Marni'
but obviously that should mean nothing if you love it (and, unlike me, have no Northern relatives...) Grin

Anya and Esme are my favourites. Know a Marnie (she's c. 35) who is lovely, so quite like that too.

allyfe · 02/02/2011 13:49

Love Marnie.

LadyGoneGaga · 02/02/2011 13:29

Marnie and Esme - love both, are both on my shortlist (of 3).

Anya is a type of potato.

Orla is nice but think best for those with Irish ancestry.

I used to love Lily but think it is getting much too popular.

MrsMcCave · 02/02/2011 13:19

Anya is nice, but it is a type of potato ... that would bother me, especially as it is quite well known.

sfxmum · 02/02/2011 13:15

I like all the names but they are for very different girlsGrin

I think names are one of those things that you know what to call them when you meet them

shouldnotbehere · 02/02/2011 13:07

I like all your names, except for Marnie.

JamieLeeCurtis · 02/02/2011 12:00

What about Lana??

JamieLeeCurtis · 02/02/2011 12:00

Marnie is my favourite

Anya is lovely

Orla is OK
Lily is lovely, but I wouldn't choose it as it's v popular

I don't like Esme, sorry

iloveblue · 02/02/2011 11:34

Love Marnie - will be on our shortlist for DC3. And DS2 was going to be Esme.
But also like Orla too.

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 31/01/2011 23:00

My favourite from your list is Anya, followed by Orla. Marnie is ok but I'm not personally fond of Esme or Lily.

Expecting06112010 · 31/01/2011 21:54

Anya is lovely! Love It! Smile

Lozza70 · 31/01/2011 21:14

Love Marnie and as someone said is good on a little girl and still okay once they have grown up. Like all the rest but Lily is really popular around here at the mo so you would hear it everywhere!

Only one I don't like is Marnie (makes me think Sarnie, but could just be greed Grin). Orla isn't my bag, but the rest are very pretty.
