I love it, makes me think of Song of Roland - but then I studied medieval English at university Grin. DH vetoed it on Grange Hill grounds Sad.

I'm not keen. Even though his peers won't get the references, Roland is often shortened to Roly. If he's not as svelte as he might be, it could give rise to unpleasant nicknames.
