Clodagh, Maeve (Maebh) or Enya (Enya) for a girl
Dermot or Cormac for a boy

DP likes Dermot and Enya ( he is not irish)
Im keener on the others

Sorry but Dermot is really terrible and Cormac is ok(ish). I think Irish boy's names are so, so hard (am having that problem myself right now!!).

We have an Oisín, which I adore but if your dh wants an easy to spell name he wont like it Smile. We've decided on Iarlaith if this ones a boy (Ear - la) (little prince) but again, a little too Irish for you dh, I think.

Names we've considered: Darragh/ Daire/ Dara (think its gorgeous) and Tiernan. Connor is lovely but very, very, very popular.

Actually think Darragh goes lovely with Clodagh and Seamus.

Love Caoimhe and Seamus btw Smile.

Please do not call a baby Dermot. That is just wrong. Diarmuid on the other hand would be gorgeous. Just fashions I know, but I can't help being influenced by them.

Ilike Cormac as well.

I have always loved the name Saoirse. My daughter was going to be Seamus had she been a boy - I love that name!

My Caoimhe is pronounced Keeva ( im N.Ireland and Queeva is south)

Personally I am set on either Clodagh or Maeve for a girl or Cormac or Francis for a boy

Arghhh

I do have 5 weeks to force persuade him

Lovely names. Francis is gorgeous imo, and while not 'as Gaeilge' it's a name very popular in Ireland in days of yore. With the name on both sides of the family, I would put it on your list.

I really love Clodagh and have tried to get dh to even consider it for all 3 dds - however he really doesn't like it - and he IS Irish Sad
I think it depends whether you want a 'proper' Irish name or a 'nod to Ireland' iyswim?

Lorcan, Cillian are becoming quite popular at minute. Of course I think Jack is still the most popular boys name in Ireland at the minute Grin Not Dermot - old mans name - sorry.

I'm really not familiar with irish names but how about: Orla, Maura, Alana or Damon, Dillon for a boy? x
