Siobhan, Niamh
(neeve)

I love Tadgh for a boy but spelling is tricky which is why we went for Malachy instead (live in England) but I still hanker after Tadgh (pronounced like Tiger without the -r)

Grin Maryz.

Don't ever be tempted to call your baby Gobnait, IrishQueen.

fedupwithdeployment · 24/01/2011 23:35

No one has mentioned Fergal or Fearghal. We would have had Fionnuala if we'd had a DD.

Love Caoimhe, Roisin, Maeve and Saorise for a girl. Also Sorcha, Grainne, Orlaith.

Oisin, Dara and Cormac are fabulous for a boy.

clumsymumluckybaby · 24/01/2011 21:25

sorry to hear that Minione.it is a lovely name that you choose for him.

clumsymumluckybaby · 24/01/2011 21:23

oh,thats lovely.Smile

i like the look of Ruairi if im pronouncing it correctly...

Minione · 24/01/2011 20:47

Ooh, Irish names thread, my favourite(waves to Barbie!). DH is Irish and like you most of the good ones have been taken. Our son was sadly stillborn last June and we named him Malachy Aidan. Cormac, Ruairi and Cillian were also on our list, as was Saoirse for a girl. I don't really like Dermot, sorry. Maeve is lovely but its already been used in our family.

Good Luck x

AnnOnimous · 24/01/2011 20:40

Love Donal, Dara, Lorcan and Patrick for boys and Orla for a girl.

mathanxiety · 24/01/2011 20:26

Cloe-dah (cloe rhymes with glow/slow/grow and the D is soft like a French D)

clumsymumluckybaby · 24/01/2011 20:18

how do you pronounce Clodagh?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/01/2011 19:21

Oh yes and love Niall too but there are loads in Sunderland!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/01/2011 18:57

There is a Maeve and two Cormacs in my family. Love both. My favourite boys name is Oisin but Clodagh and Seamus were both my list when I was pregnant.

muminthesun · 24/01/2011 18:49

We Have a Niall,I think its a lovely name, much like himselfSmile.People dont always know to say/spell it,but same can often be said of other irish names.

irishqueen · 24/01/2011 17:33

i always wanted a Lorcan but gone off it recently> ...hmm may reconsider
I was pg between other 2 but had a mc at 14 weeks and Saoirse was the name I had picked so it would feel funny to use that again
