Clodagh, Maeve (Maebh) or Enya (Enya) for a girl
Dermot or Cormac for a boy

DP likes Dermot and Enya ( he is not irish)
Im keener on the others

I quite like all the names you've mentioned, especially Enya.

Lovely to see some Irish names on here that vary from Erin, Orla and Niamh for a change!

ps knew a Ruadhán, he was the first vegan I ever met, and an eccentric musician. RecklessPixie, I love those names. Dáithí and Síbhéal. Blush is Sibeal pronounced Sheebale or see bale

You can't go wrong with Declan. Very normal but not that many of them.

My husband is Irish and our DS is called Finnard. Never met another one!

My DS is Declan. My husband is Irish but we chose the name Declan after watching 'Capital City' in the late 1980's - one of the characters was a Declan :)

I love those names, Recklesspixie. A cousin of mine has a little Aoibhín who is gorgeous. Sibéal always reminds me of the beautiful Dingle peninsula -- lovely classical name that's just as nice in Irish.

mathsanxiety my DH is Ruadhán, haven't met any other Ruadhán's so was surpised to find it on your list!
Am 11 weeks and we are considering Tiarnán for a boy and Aoibhín or Aoife for a girl, love Béibhín always have and I think Dáithí is so cute for a boy... Síbhéal is another nice unusual girl's name.

I have a kiara and a brayden. How about a Manx Gaelic name? Ishbel for a girl or kerron for a boy?

Seoirsin, oona, aine, mairin, grainne, grayse.

I have a boy Francis, and 3 girls, Gracie, Oonagh and Caoimhe. Not one of them are called by their name, Doodles, A.C, OoMcOo and Diva.
Not what I had planned when naming them.
Thought I would share this as you are considering a couple of these names.

This sites quite insteresting for Irish names. My 9 yr olds Niamh but shes not keen on it as she gets called Nee-am Ni-am. I printed this off now she likes$ it better. She has waste length blonde hair so its quite fitting

We know we are having a boy and I'm debating between Milo and Shay .. if it was a girl it would have probably been Caitlin or Roisin.

Some good Irish names come from the Vikings - Raghnall and Somhairle for example.

i have this problem- am irish- partner not- he hates most irish names except the really common ones ( or ones I hate) I refuse to think about and I want kids to have irish name- Maybe I will name all my kids after nordic gods- may be easier

I know a couple of Dymphnas, it makes me think of fairies for some reason.

I know a Concepta around my age, if not a bit younger (I'm 31). Her mother is Assumpta.

I had never heard of it before!

I love Sadhbh, really pretty. I love the name Thady, if DD had been a boy she would have had that name.

I knew a family with a Concepta and a Dymphna (the school wags called her Hnimphna, pronounced through the nose) among other beauties. All my age or thereabouts..

Val - I knew a Gobnait (real name) growing up. Lovely girl, but wow, the name....

Didn't Amanda Brunker call her son Setanta? I think she did. If it wasn't her it mgiht have been Lorraine Keane. Confused

Most people will just thing, huh sports channel, so I wouldn't really.

Gobnait! lol. Bold girls used to have their name translated into Irish as Gobnait as a punishment for being cheeky!
