Needing a bit of external advice on possible names for DS2 please. I'm english but DH is algerian of Kabyle (Berber) origin. I've got quite an unusual name and always wanted to give my children unusual names so was happy to agree to give our DS1 a Kabyle name - he is Anir which means Angel (born 31 Dec) - but with an english middle name.

Just found out by scan that am expecting another boy and i'm really stumped, can't find anything i like.

Tell me what you think about my favourite - Maziz - shorten to Maz, does that sound a bit odd? (Means my darling son)

Other options are
Ali - works anywhere i think but boring?
Sami - quite common
Samir - sounds weird with Anir no?

Help with any other suggestions gratefully accepted...

Yanis is hebrew.

Is Yanis a Berber name ? DH is Berber from Algeria and I seem to remember a friend or cousin called Yanis.

I knew a Nassim and a Selim.
I like Selim and he was a really nice guy too, not too common.

Maziz is beautiful.

I like Maziz best. Maz - why odd? To English ears, close to Max.

I do know a female Maz (Marilyn).
