After much umming and aaahing I think we've found names we like for dc2 who apparently is a girl.

Erin Ann L......
Or
Mara Elizabeth L.....

Any thoughts? I may go back to the drawing board but my mind is blank!

TIA :)

I love both names but if pushed, I'd go for Mara. Very pretty name and not as commonly used (where I am anyway!)

SlightlyTubbyHali · 21/01/2011 20:54

I really like Erin, although there's something about Mara too.

Hmm...

Lilyloo · 21/01/2011 20:55

Erin is lovely

Nospringflower · 21/01/2011 20:55

Erin is nice - never heard of Mara and so less keen on that.

pointydug · 21/01/2011 21:00

oo I love Mara and considered it for one of mine.

Might not be popular because the biblical meaning is bitter, I think. I liked the gaelic meaning of 'sea'.

ValiumSilverTongue · 21/01/2011 21:01

Mara

Erin is soup.

spidookly · 21/01/2011 21:04

Erin hotcup

Mara I don't like either really. Is it a name?

onimolap · 21/01/2011 21:05

Not keen on Erin.

Also, not too sure about Mara. But if you want a lesser-used like it, how about Maura?

londonmackem · 21/01/2011 21:09

I prefer Maura as Mara does sound a little made up (but appreciate if it is biblical then it isn't)
I like Erin and it is unusual.

londonmackem · 21/01/2011 21:11

Why not Elizabeth? Not helpful I know!

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2011 21:14

DD1 is Erin Ann!!

Lovely name, we don't encounter too many Erin's, so it's a little unusual, but easy to spell/pronounce and can't be shortened to anything naff.

(not that I'm biased or anything)

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 21/01/2011 22:16

Erin

MrsKitty · 21/01/2011 22:24

I prefer Mara.

posey · 21/01/2011 22:26

Just so you know, a mara is a type of animal, a sort of Coypu. I saw one being born at London Zoo (they named it after ds as no keepers were there at the time and we had to go and find someone to tell them what had happened Grin)
Anyway...back to the matter in hand...very cute animal but thought you should know!

posey · 21/01/2011 22:29

It's one of these www.wildabouttheworld.com/gallery/data/500/Mara.jpg

PlanetLizard · 22/01/2011 09:59

Erin

Ciske · 22/01/2011 10:07

Our first daughter is called Erin. I loved it because it's simple and elegant and also a name you don't hear too often. Mara is lovely as well, never heard of it though.

Perhaps wait until it's born and see whether she looks more like an Erin or a Mara? Smile

soppypreggyloon · 22/01/2011 10:33

Cheers all!

Erin Anne has sisters middle name and Mara Elizabeth has mil name. Other names in our family are not my taste! Erin and mara are us tho.

I'm not worried about the animal as it's pretty obscure.

Should have said ds is Noah Thomas (dh name). Does that affect your thoughts? :)

Love both names. Not helpful sorry.

freerangeeggs · 22/01/2011 14:11

They're both lovely but Mara is more disctinctive.

NewImprovedJollster · 22/01/2011 15:31

hmmm prefer Mara Elizabeth. Erin Ann seems a bit short.

BUT much prefer Noah and Erin together. Helpful ain't I...?

spidookly · 22/01/2011 15:57

"I saw one being born at London Zoo (they named it after ds as no keepers were there at the time and we had to go and find someone to tell them what had happened )"

OMG that is sooooooooo cool.

Your lucky ducker DS Envy

CharlieBoo · 22/01/2011 19:40
