We have spent hours pouring over girls names ,since about week 20, two weeks to go and still no decision that we can agree on!
What do you think of these names, and any ideas for similar sorts of names?
Nothing too "frilly" or too popular please.

Ideas so far are

Kezia (my choice, DH not so keen)
Imogen (DH choice, i'm not so keen)
Anya
Katya
Matilda ( Ilove, DH hates!)
Iris (Two DC's love, I'm not so keen)

Love Grace, Hope, type names as second names.

Like Anya the most and Matilda don't really like the others.

Hedwig3 · 20/01/2011 10:29

From your list I like

Anya
Matilda
Iris

How about

Rosa
Anna
Lara
Amelia
Nina
Sara/Zara

I'm with megsacat - Anya is by far the best, followed by Matilda. Not keen on any of the others.

What about...

Lauren
Eloise
Francesca
Erin
Erica
Bryony
Michaela

Anya is a gorgeous name, and quite unusual.

LaTristesse · 20/01/2011 10:43

Anya was on my shortlist, but I had a boy. Iris is lovely too.

ajandjjmum · 20/01/2011 10:45

Love Imogen.

But don't stress, see who your baby looks like she might be. DS was a nickname for the first two years of his life - and until the day we registered his birth we were still discussing what his name should be.

They become their name whatever. Smile

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/01/2011 10:56

Imogen or Iris are lovley, don't like the others much mainly because they are either names of children who have bullied DD or exSIL.

Cadmum · 20/01/2011 11:03

If it is any consolation, dd1 didn't have a name until a few hours after she was born...

I couldn't choose one until I saw her.

Nagoo · 20/01/2011 11:13

My DS was nameless for a week, sometimes it works out best to wait and see what fits them.

I like Iris, Anya amd Eloise.

Don't like Kezia. Sounds made-up.

gleechie · 20/01/2011 12:13

Love Matilda, Kezia is an old family name of mine pronounced Kez-eye-ah from deepest darkest Derbyshire. Eloise, Anya and Iris are lovely too.

Really, really dislike Imogen for some reason.

JojoMags · 20/01/2011 19:42

Love Matilda and Anya. Not keen on the rest of the original list. Beatrice?

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 20/01/2011 22:36

Anya was on my list too, I love it. Sadly I don't think it would be prounounced correctly where we are. Also really like Erin suggested above.

PlanetLizard · 20/01/2011 22:40

I like Anya best from your list.

onimolap · 20/01/2011 22:59

Kezia - fantastic (Biblical) name
Imogen - lovely
Anya - no
Katya - OK
Matilda - lovely
Iris - no

mamacorner · 20/01/2011 23:21

Thanks everyone,I Like Eloise but would they get called Louise ( bit dated ) or Ellie ( is it common ?)
I do like Amelia, but it's quite common isn't it, along with it's shortened "Milly"?

A good friends daughter is Erin so wouldn't want to use that...What about Eliza?

Maybe nameless for the first couple of weeks is the way to go..our 1st DD was that way for a week, final decision of second name made on the way to the registery office!

Imogen is lovely.

Elise?

sayers81 · 21/01/2011 08:43

my little girl is now 5 months, and i was convinced she was going to be called Isabel until she was born and then she looked like a Poppy, so me and my hubby settled on Poppy Alana, her 2nd name being after my grandad Alan who is no longer with us!! so i wouldnt stress over names until you meet your little bundle... :)
