He seems to have quite strict rules about baby naming

When someone asks, "What do you think about Taneesha Avaiyia?" we can reply:

WWBD?

What would Benedict do?

Slightly off the point, but I wonder who you have to be to get your baby baptised by the Pope, no less.

In Germany it is the Standesbeamte - the Registrar - who has the power to veto a name. I know someone who was not allowed to call her son Kalle (from the Astrid Lindgren books).

Our current parish priest refuses to baptise children who don't have a sufficiently Christian first name (uuuuber traditional Catholic).

There are soeme seriously wacky saints names out there.

When you consider a small child could be named Mellon Expedite Hilarion then Taneesha Avaiyia starts looking almost normal!

In France, there's a list, a long list, from which one of a child's names must be picked. As a teacher of such gems as Tekeila (yes, that's how she spells it), Harley Davison Williams and Astra, I like that idea!

lol at him self-destructing on the feminist section. Yes, could be nasty.

My PILs have a Catholic name calender. I think it bothers them that I don't have a name day so they cannot congratulate me.

Believe it or not, this is nothing new. I was brought up in care and if the nuns thought that your name was inappropriate, it was quickly changed to a saint's name.
My name was changed to Margaret and I never knew until I got a copy of my birth certificate from the church archives that it was not actually my given name.

Poledra · 11/01/2011 09:14

And that would be a bad thing, SGM? Wink
