they work in fashion so I assume that they think its 'cool'.. but I find it ridiculous, up there with Apple... middle name is persian and doesnt match at all.

what do you say when you need to pretend the baby name is ok?

I know a Tiger Rose (girl obv), they call her Tiggs, with a brother called Hero...

Edmundo · 12/01/2011 10:04

I know of brothers named Tiger and Dylan. They are about 13 and 11 now. It's not terrible but 'tis a bit odd.

Not as bad as my Mum, Soupdragon, who was being politely evasive about my SiL's new baby's name. It emerged later she misheard me on the phone, and thought he was called Pond Grin

Not only that, but she told lots of her friends before the confusion was cleared up!

Or hire a cocktail waitress. Or two.

SoupDragon · 11/01/2011 19:39

Buy him some golf clubs.

SoupDragon · 11/01/2011 19:38

I thought there was a boy in DS2s year called tiger. Turned out to be Taiga (close enough spelling as I'm not sure) and not Tiger at all. They are, er, Japanese or Chinese or something similar.

That was on my list I like it reminds me of the double deckers

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/01/2011 19:35

She is on MN...

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/01/2011 19:33

Umm..MissyTequila...that's my cousin...

ValiumTinselton · 11/01/2011 19:30

I quite like it, ev en though it is a bit mad.

In Ireland at least, you could re-normalise it by shortening it to Tadhg

Housemum · 11/01/2011 19:22

Just think of the panic you could cause in a zoo - "Where's Tiger, he was here a second ago?" (Screaming people run from an escaped tiger...)

freerangeeggs · 11/01/2011 19:10

I think it's grrrrrrrrreat!

Deciduousblonde · 10/01/2011 20:31

Precisely!

When you see a squashed up wrinkly baby, do you say it's ugly? I certainly don't.

Takver · 10/01/2011 19:18

I know a Tiger too, never thought twice about it as a name, you won't either once you get to know him.

As it happens, I like it as a name, especially because he's a lovely lad so it has good associations for me :)

Anyway, regardless, you say - 'what a lovely name, isn't he beautiful, such a gorgeous baby' . . . even if he is all squashed and a funny colour Grin

rachel1970 · 10/01/2011 18:33

I agree - just congratulate them on their baby boy. You don't have to like your friend's choice of name for her son. You'll be surprised how normal Tiger will seem on him soon.

twinkletoesxmas · 10/01/2011 18:33

oops i meant Confused

twinkletoesxmas · 10/01/2011 18:32

I like it, it's different and cool, i don't why people have to be so 'judgey' about other peoples name choices (confused)

Who cares what we think. It is your friend's baby and her name choice. Why not congratulate her on her healthy baby boy Smile.

Isn't it ok NOT to like someone else's name choice?

I mean, we all have different tastes so how come it is expected that we all like each others' name choices (or hairstyle choices for that matter)...

Why don't you just congratulate them on their beautiful baby boy - isn't that much more important than his name anyway?

galletti · 10/01/2011 16:43

Isn't the actor that plays the older boy in Outnumbered called Tiger?

Deciduousblonde · 10/01/2011 16:40

Sorry I'm too busy laughing at the replies to say anything constructive Wink

I would have to just smile and say ''That's nice''. They can take from that what they will!

LouCracker · 10/01/2011 16:09

I know a 9 year old boy called Tiger, he is lovely.

I must admit when I first met him and heard what his name was (he was around 3 at the time) I was a bit Hmm but now I think the name suits him perfectly and is pretty cool.
