Wow Rhubarbgarden, is that the word for associating things with colours? I was writing about this on another name thread recently as I said Clara was violet purple (to me). Alice is lemon yellow Smile I didn't know it was called synesthesia! Have just looked it up. I also associate musical notes with colours.

I also agree re Felix being orange!!! Spot on! Tess/Tessa is also orange. Jenny/Jennifer is green. Charles is blue. Olivia is lime green. When I am thinking of names to "go" with DD's (am currently pg) not only do they have to have flow in terms of style, their "colours" have to go together too. I couldn't put a red name with a green name for example (as I don't like that combination). I couldn't have an orange name (not keen on orange) no matter how much the name "seemed" perfect, to me it would always be orange and I don't like orange.

you learn something new every day Smile

His nickname might well be 'cat' - but that's not a bad NN if he's a cool kid.

I have synaesthesia Smile

Dislike it. It's a very orange name for me.

tebbles · 06/01/2011 19:24

I think of the cat but I still quite like it. I like the x at the end.

Nickname could just be 'X' like 'E' from Entourage?

LittleYellowTeapot · 06/01/2011 19:20

My DC's have ended up with nn's that are longer than their actual names. And there isn't really much of a connection between their names and their affectionate nn's either Grin

If you like the name, use it anyway, and see what nn evolves.

TotorosOcarina · 06/01/2011 19:16

Because all my other kids have shortened names and it would seem ofdd for him to have one name Grin

Cats and the rather effeminate half of 'the odd couple' - but even I'm only just about old enough for that association.

Why would you want a NN if you like the name as is? Some people would say its lack of abbreviatability is an advantage.

headfairy · 06/01/2011 19:07

I like it too and wanted it for dd (when we thought she was a ds!) but dh vetoed it saying it reminded him of catfood.
