A friend has just named her DS Herbie (Herbie, not Herbert, is his full name). Purely out of interest, what do people think?

I find any -ie name for boys a little overdone, there are just so many little Alfies, Archies, Charlies, Herbies around these days...

what boobooglass said.

Herbie, Reggie, Archie, Alfie, Bertie, Charlie, Percy are all very trendy these days and it is only a matter of time before they start to sound dated, cute as they are now.

Personally I'd have put Herbert on the bc, not that I particularly like it though.

SparklyJules · 05/01/2011 22:21

Awful.

evamummy · 05/01/2011 22:19

Very much along the current fashion of Alfie, Archie, Reggie, etc. etc.

Can't see any car connection personally (and I've been in the UK for almost 20 years...Confused).

BooBooGlass · 05/01/2011 18:48

It's a car

MamaVoo · 05/01/2011 18:46

To me it's a VW Beetle, but I'm sure it will be fine for his generation.

No worse than other nicknames used as full names.
