We called our little girl May, I still love it. It is old fashioned but that was part of the appeal for us! It suits her and i havn't heard of any other little girls with it as a first name. I agree it is too common as middle name ( still pretty tho) Smile

I think May and Mae are both sweet and simple and lovely.

I think I slightly prefer May but it's only slightly.

I like May but love Mae think its much nicer and i know four May's but no Mae's.
So Mae for me.

May seems very old fashioned and quite old lady like, Mae is a lovely spelling. I've also seen it spelt Mai which I like as well :) x

I prefer May. Mae looks downmarket. Mae West was really a Mary. Mae was her nickname.

Mae is a great spelling plus has an interesting history; May is a bit old lady-ish but Mae is Mae West (she had flair), Mae Jemison (pioneering African American doctor and astronaut)...

I like the name Mae-I would spell it like that too :) if we have a little girl her middle name is gonna be Mae

Because every third child is ella mae, or Lucy mae, or lily MAE.. That's why it's unimaginitive! Very common. Noone said it wasn't nice or pretty or whatever it's just popular. As a first name however it's not so common

I prefer May, much nicer with a y in signatures etc
Also I can see problems with people mispelling it Mea.

I like it - and I like the spelling. For some reason May seems old ladyish, Mae on the other hand is lovely! We've got a Maia - and it's NEVER spelt right, how people think that Miai = Maia is beyond me

I prefer the spelling 'May'. As a first name, lovely. As a middle name, unimaginative.
