Anyone got any ideas for a full name for maggie that's not margaret?! I love the nn but would like a full name too - any thoughts welcome!

Similar but different: Peggy

LynetteScavo · 19/08/2011 21:55

This isn't the first Maggi baby name thread.

Makes me curious, as I was a child in the '80's, and it just makes me think of "Maggi, Maggie, Maggie, Out, Out, Out!"

But I supposed it could be short for Magdalene, which is nice.

mopsyflopsy · 19/08/2011 21:51

I'd put Margaret or Margaretha on the bc and use Maggie as a nickname.

I'd hesitate to use Maggie as to me it is this (Maggi): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggi

but perhaps it is not sold in the UK.

Bandwithering · 19/08/2011 21:45

Magaly

Emphasis on the first syllable MAGalee

There are lots in france, spain, portugal because I think she was a saint.

oohlaalaa · 18/08/2011 16:33

We have friends with a daughter Maggie.

Maggie is the full name. When I heard it I was, Hmm, but its a grower, and I'm now a fan of the name.

juliabb · 18/08/2011 14:27

Not or me. Just like maggie. Cute and simple.

Ziggimajiggi · 18/08/2011 12:39

What about Margaratha (think it is the name fo the Queen of Denmark)?

juliabb · 18/08/2011 11:09

Love name Maggie as it is. Much prettier than Magaret. Expecting baby in dec and is in top two names for us.

SilkStalkings · 24/12/2010 10:06

Been put off Marigold by the Jacqueline Wilson book 'The Tattooed Mum.'

MerryMarigold · 22/12/2010 20:20

No-one's mentioned Marigold! I really love that name (can you tell?), but dh was not having it Sad. Maggie is the most obvious nn for it.

bumpers · 22/12/2010 19:54

luckily my DP does (despite the Simpsons!) so thats number 1 choice at the moment. Still slightly undecided about whether it will be a nn or a full name - but i dont need to decide for a while yet. Only slight problem is, despite being desparate not to find out the sex at the 20 week scan, I think I saw something very suspicious - so there is a strong likliehood that a boys name will be in order instead! never mind, will keep this one as top choice for the next one if my suspicions are correct!!

Like a lot of the others I love Maggie on its own. One of the few girls names I like so gutted my DP doesn't like it Sad

JojoMags · 18/12/2010 19:20

I once knew a Morag who got Maggie as a nn. I prefer Maggie on its own though.

SilkStalkings · 18/12/2010 18:00

I was going to have a Maggie short for Marianne. Was a boy in the end.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/12/2010 22:21

My 2 best friends are called Maggie, not short for anything, just Maggie

It's a lush name

Fourleaf · 16/12/2010 18:40

I love Maggie :) But would personally call her Margaret on the birth certificate...

Bagpusstree · 16/12/2010 17:59

I like Maggie in its own right too. One we toyed with.

boogeek · 16/12/2010 14:30

I've got a Maggie too - seems there are a few about even though I also have never met another.
Mine is really a Margaret :)

AllieW · 16/12/2010 14:30

DP put off by The Simpsons, perhaps?

pipplin · 16/12/2010 14:28

I love Maggie. Shame dp doesn't :(

pigindisguise · 16/12/2010 13:22

Megan?

faverolles · 15/12/2010 10:35

I have a Maggie too, and have never met another!
Mine isn't short for anything.
SHe really suits her name.

mathanxiety · 15/12/2010 02:11

I know a bunch of them DD1's age and younger. All are short for Margaret but one is Margret on her BC.

notaroundmuch · 15/12/2010 01:05

I have a Maggie too! Know of 1 other but hers is shortened from Margaret.

We decided it was lovely just as a name in itself and I'm really pleased we gave it to her, I love it.

panettoinydog · 14/12/2010 23:18

I like Maggie a lot but I do like Margaret too.
