Eden for a girl

Just trying to find out if I'm crazy, DH has decided that my taste is in my arse not great. I love the name Eden - would be either Eden Kate or Eden Rose after grandmothers on either side as middle name.

DH first told me it's not an actual name (Hmm, I'm aware that it is) but now tells me that it doesn't go with DD1 (Sasha Isobel).

What do you think of Eden for a girl? Does it go with Sasha?

Eden is lovely, and would suit a small child or a teenager equally. Go for it!

LovestheChaos · 08/12/2010 10:28

My best friend in high school was called Eden. Lovely pretty and smart girl.

NadiaWadia · 07/12/2010 23:27

Very nice, bit different.

Seems feminine to me.

growing3rdbump · 07/12/2010 17:54

I cant imagine Eden for a boy at all, always thought of it as a girls name.

CuppaTeaJanice · 07/12/2010 16:45

I know an Eden Rose, and her mum is called Kate so that's all your names covered!!

There is a beautiful pink climbing rose called Eden Rose, so she could have her own flower in the garden!

Lovethesea · 07/12/2010 16:41

I think it's lovely, but I can't decide if I prefer it for a boy or girl ....

Jenda · 07/12/2010 15:46

I think its lovely, don't like it for a boy but v pretty for a girl and i think it goes nicely with Sasha.

OctaviaOstrichJollster · 07/12/2010 14:56

I don't know any of either sex.
I would assume it was a girl's name.
I really like it actually.
Think either Kate or Rose are nice middle names - slight leaning to Kate.
Goes really well with Sasha.

I really like it.

I know one, a man of 46, so I don't think of it as a name for girls, but why not/ Very pretty imo.

I visualise the perfume ad too.

TabithaTwitchet · 07/12/2010 13:11

It makes me think of the book "Eden Close" by Anita Shreve. Which I think slightly puts me off the name, as it is not a very happy tale - the girl in the book is called Eden.

QueeferSantaland · 07/12/2010 13:08

I know of 2 boy Edens and 2 girl Edens.

I like it.

Carrie06 · 07/12/2010 13:07

My DH was going to called Eden but my MIL's father wouldn't let her as he said it was a sissy name for a big chap (my DH weighed 10 pounds 12 ounces)and probably not the type of name you would come across in rural Ireland in the 1970s. Pity as a nice name but I think more of a boy's name.

anonymousbird · 07/12/2010 13:01

I only know one boy Eden.
Not sure for a girl... possibly, but a bit wierd.

Also, though, the only Sasha I know is also a boy!!!

So my opinion may be worth nothing at all!

i love the name Eden, if i had a girl i was going to call her Eden, older people did point out it used to be a boys name, couldnt bring myself to name my boy it though!

growing3rdbump · 07/12/2010 12:54

I've never heard of Eden used for a boy - the two I know are girls.

I love it and it sounds like a girls name to me.

Tolalola · 07/12/2010 12:16

I think of it as a boy's name. I like it, but it sounds a bit odd for a girl, to me.

ShoppingDays · 07/12/2010 12:09

I know it's used as a first name, but it makes me think of the Garden of Eden... so it sounds too place-namey to me.

How about Elodie, Eve, Edith, Ivy, Eloise?

SpringHeeledJack · 07/12/2010 11:47

I know a boy Eden- my lovely nephew, so my judgement is a bit skewed

I sort of like unisex names, and it's very sweet- tho admit I was a bit Hmm when my sis first announced it

fel1x · 07/12/2010 11:45

I only know boy Edens

Hullygully · 07/12/2010 11:09

I like it. I know a poshish 10 mth old Eden. Well, she's not v posh yet, but the parents are a bit.

nymphadora · 07/12/2010 11:04

I know an Eden. I quite like it

LetLoveRule · 07/12/2010 11:03

Boy's name? 3 Edens in DSs class - all boys!

LaWeaselMys · 07/12/2010 10:59

I like Eden, my DP sounds like yours though. He kept suggesting Emily as an alternative. Not the same at all!!

DD would've been Lexie if my taste was allowed free reign.
