Eden for a girl

Just trying to find out if I'm crazy, DH has decided that my taste is in my arse not great. I love the name Eden - would be either Eden Kate or Eden Rose after grandmothers on either side as middle name.

DH first told me it's not an actual name (Hmm, I'm aware that it is) but now tells me that it doesn't go with DD1 (Sasha Isobel).

What do you think of Eden for a girl? Does it go with Sasha?

Dont like it for either boy or girl sorry.

allbie · 15/02/2011 19:02

I know a baby girl Eden and an older boy called Eden. Both work. The name is lovely.

GRW · 15/02/2011 18:35

I love it, and know a girl aged 17 with this name.

ThatllDoPig · 15/02/2011 17:31

I think it does sound like a girl. But then I know a girl Eden. Lovely girl, lovely name.

BuntyPenfold · 15/02/2011 15:05

What I meant was Eden was a man, and I believe the books were well known at one time.

BuntyPenfold · 15/02/2011 15:04

There was a series of books called White Oaks Chronicles, which stretched over several generations.
Main characters were Adeline, Eden, and a little girl called Pheasant.
Eden was a hero as far as I remember, (I was about 8 when I read them so I may be wrong.)

I like it, but do always think of that Barbara Vine story someone mentioned, as that's the only place I've heard it, never in real life. In the story it was a nickname for Edith IIRC.

I've never heard of it for a boy, maybe it's a variant of Aiden?

DDNEdiesmum · 15/02/2011 00:49

My Little girl is called Eden and i find it a really weird name for a boy,it means paradise amongst other things which i think is quite girly, our DD's full name is Eden Georgia Roisin (irish for rose) and we had her baby sister in novemebr who we called daisy, I love pretty names for girls!

KangarooCaught · 12/12/2010 21:21

Agree with Noddyholder, sorry.

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 12/12/2010 21:21

I only know boy Edens.

Idlegirl83 · 12/12/2010 21:18

I love the name Eden for a girl Xmas Smile

onimolap · 11/12/2010 21:19

There was a couple called Eden and Cruz in one if the dreadful 80s low budget soaps (I think it was The Bold and the Beautiful - anyone else remember this?).

Trouble is, I can't remember which name was for which sex. I think both are probably unisex now.

Takver · 11/12/2010 21:06

I think it is a beautiful name, and goes well with the middle names you're thinking of.

Alternatively, I know an Edern - she's Cornish and apparantly it's a Cornish name for either a girl or a boy.

edam · 11/12/2010 11:33

There's a Ruth Rendell (Barbara Vine) story with a character called Eden. It does not end well for her.

violethill · 11/12/2010 11:19

Sounds more male than female tbh

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 11/12/2010 10:03

Thanks all, I really appreciate the feedback. Now to work on DH... Xmas Grin

My friends DD is called Eden and I love it - go for it Smile

eviscerateyourmemory · 11/12/2010 09:35

I know of a girl and a boy called Eden, I think it is better as a girls name.

I was a bit sceptical of the name, but the girl that I know of suits it really well, so I like it now.

I think that it does go well with Sasha.

Rhubarbgarden · 11/12/2010 09:22

To me it's a bit yurts and quinoa.

lowrib · 11/12/2010 00:21

Lovely name. Edie is a nice NN too.

AllieW · 10/12/2010 10:39

I instantly think of the Garden of Eden, I'm afraid. Not keen sorry.

mintyneb · 09/12/2010 14:57

one of the intensive care nurses looking after my DD in the neo natal unit after she was born was called Eden and she was a really lovely person. Have liked the name ever since!

noddyholder · 09/12/2010 14:49

I don't like it its a bit wag/glamour modelly.I love kate though beautiful classic name.

YellowDaffodil · 09/12/2010 14:47

I know 2 males called Eden. One in his 40's and a 1 year old.

Loads of names are used for boys and girls so can't see a problem.

muminthemiddle · 08/12/2010 23:20

I like it either for a boy or a girl. It goes well with Sasha too.
