hey guys!

what does everyone think of Orla-Rayne? me and OH cant decide so as a comprimise i suggested putting our 2 fave names together so what does everyone think? i dont want to ask friends and family yet so honest opinions please!

also do you think it needs a middle name? i promised my friend baby would take her name (louise)as a middle name but i wasnt banking on a double barrelled first name!

Orla Jane was the name we had picked for a girl but we are having a boy.

noddyholder · 04/12/2010 21:20

No terrible.orla ok ish

spidookly · 04/12/2010 21:19

Raine (not Rayne) is maybe OK, Ruby is dreadful.

Tell your OH to come up with some better suggestions.

Lovethesea · 04/12/2010 21:18

Orla is lovely, but Rayne/Rain/Raine doesn't work for me, and definitely not both names.

I would expect Rain to have siblings called River, Storm, Ocean etc. And to live somewhere it doesn't rain quite as often as the UK!

ValiumSingleton · 04/12/2010 21:09

Orla Raine doesn't work.

What about Orla Joy or Orla Maeve - less confusing.

TabithaTwitchet · 04/12/2010 20:18

Orla is pretty, but don't like Rayne, especially not hyphenated.

How abour Rhiannon, that is prettier, and quite similar.

Ephiny · 04/12/2010 16:17

I think Orla is lovely, but agree it doesn't go with Rayne, especially hyphenated like that. Orla Louise is fine IMO.

Dexterrocks · 04/12/2010 15:34

Orla is one of my favourite names ever. It means golden haired princess. Is she likely to have blonde hair?

Rachy91 · 04/12/2010 15:13

really dont like Ruby Confused def dont like it as a middle name

thenightsky · 04/12/2010 11:50

Yes yes Beatie... that was it.. Acid Raine Grin

MuffinMouse · 04/12/2010 10:32

I agree with SE13.

Is it just me that hears Rein? I associate it with reining someone in - not allowing them to be free. Sorry.

Seconding Orla Ruby Louise!

SE13Mummy · 04/12/2010 10:07

Why not go for Orla Ruby? I'm sure Ruby is less popular as a middle name than as a first name. You could even go for Orla Ruby Louise Surname.

SoupDragon · 04/12/2010 09:55

Raine is a horrendous name, however it is spelt. Please don't do it. Ruby is far far lovelier than Raine.

Beattiebow · 04/12/2010 07:15

Didn't Princess Diana and her siblings call their step mother Acid Raine or something similar?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/12/2010 06:45

Just awful, you would be ruining a beautiful name in Orla.

ShoppingDays · 04/12/2010 02:43

I like Arrienne, Asha and Skye from your lates list :)

Rachy91 · 04/12/2010 01:24

ive never been keen on hyphenated first names tbh, Orla-Raines the first one ive considered an thats only cus im at the end of my tether tryin to find a name we both like!

but there is a chance her surname will be hyphenated in which case Orla-Raine is a definate no but if we decide we like it enough then her surname would just be the one name for defs

OP posts:
DreamTeamGirl · 04/12/2010 01:19

I only like Brooke and Sian from your list.

And whatever you do dont hyphen the name, its a terrible terribel thing to do

Rachy91 · 04/12/2010 01:02

Sixer · 04/12/2010 00:46

Orla is a lovely name, although you might find nosy parkers asking about your Irish connection! What about Phillipa? Pippa, Pipps, Philly when baby/toddler, Phil can be added as a choice for a teenager, even better IMO with a good ballsy handshake when needed and the greeting "I'm Phillipa"! Would be taken seriously.

Rachy91 · 04/12/2010 00:44

mabels a dogs name :p

and my middle names elizabeth :)
and freyas very pretty

elizabeth and louise are front runners for middle names

adalyns a very pretty name, especialy when put with raine

Apparently Princess Diane and her siblings called her the Raine in Spain (behind her back)

thenightsky · 04/12/2010 00:33

I immediately thought of Raine, Princess Diana's stepmother. Her that was the daughter of Barbara Cartland.
