DH an i are sitting down tonight and hopefully going to go through a list of names and choose 1 for each sex. Thing is i dont really have a list as havnt got a clue.

We dont know the sex so need to choose both boy and girl names. Already have 1 DS who is 2.10 called Henley Ethan.

I kind of like the following:

Girl
Harlow Eve
Evie Mai

Boy
Alfie
Devon

Thats it! DH likes more traditional names like William. I just know that were going to end up argueing over this.

Please help. All suggestions welcome Smile

Having two children with the same initials is a real pain. My sister and I were always opening each other's post when we grew up.

Rachy91 · 09/12/2010 17:28

oh and isla too :D

Rachy91 · 09/12/2010 17:21

The vocal coach woman is Yvie not Ivie.

ShoppingDays · 05/12/2010 19:42

Sure, but I think many people would say it as Ivy so you'd have to be prepared to correct lots of people.

missnatalie · 05/12/2010 19:20

Ht had the big talk. DH decided to have a Fifa Night with his mates insted Xmas Angry. Saying that though, i wasnt in the mood to talk baby names either. Theres just too many to choose from and because we dont know the sex its even harder than last time. Will probably put it off until after xmas. Loving the suggestions though Xmas Smile

They were saying it as EE-VEE ShoppingDays . The woman with the name was a scottish lady i think?? Think she is the vocal coach on the XFactor

Dexter
Marley
Quinn
Milo

Pearl
Maia
Kitty

Dexter is my top of the pops name at the moment - shame DH doesn't agree! DH,like yours, will not have anything remotely fancy or modern... Good luck - have you had the big talk yet?!

ShoppingDays · 05/12/2010 17:07

I would assume Ivie was pronounced Ivy (do you like the name Ivy?)

cece · 04/12/2010 16:02

If you like Freya then you might like Anya as well.

Komondor · 04/12/2010 14:27

I like:

Archie
Zachary (dont like spelling Zakary)
Charlie
Lucas (dont like spelling Lukas)

I like all the following girls names, with Freya being far and away my favourite

Daisy
Freya
Evie
Niamh
Ava
Isla

missnatalie · 04/12/2010 13:26

Quite like Charlie & Ella cece

DS was going to be Ella-Mae if he came out a girl.

thank you

Finley (or variation of)
Fred
Charlie
Jack
Tyler
Taylor

Ella
Ellie
Poppy
Ruby
Rosie
Milly

missnatalie · 04/12/2010 13:12

Thanks Girls Xmas Smile

Yeah your right nooka on the Henley, Harlow connection. Harlow is definatly out of the window now. Do like it though.

Weve narrowed it down to:

Evie / Ivie (saw it spelt that way on this morning, this morning)
Daisy

Alfie
Zakary / Zachary
Lukas / Lucus
Carter?

No doubt we'll hear something else and like that too Grin.

Think we'll just have to keep a small list and then decide once he / she is here.

Thanks again

If you are already have a Henley then you really really shouldn't go for Harlow, it sounds way too matchy and will make people think that you like naming your children after towns (and people will wonder why). You might be able to get away with Devon, but it might be pushing it a bit.

Evie and Alfie I agree with ShoppingDays, plus you obviously like more unusual names, whereas Eve and Alfred are just as traditional as William.

Zakary (although I really don't like it with k instead of ch) and Freya seem the most unusual interesting/unusual to me, or Niamh if you have some Irish roots.

ShoppingDays · 04/12/2010 05:20

OK so Evie is trendy as well, but it's also more classic if a nickname for something (please see a few posts ago).

ShoppingDays · 04/12/2010 05:19

Archie, Alfie and Charlie are too nicknamey for me. I like Zakary but with the spelling Zachary, and prefer Luke to Lukas/Lucas.

From your girls names I like Daisy and Evie the best. I don't like Freya or Isla at all, they are too trendy at the moment.

HelenaRose · 04/12/2010 02:45

Archie
Alfie
Zakary
Charlie
Lukas

I really like all of these! Lukas and Zakary especially.

Daisy
Freya
Evie
Niamh
Ava
Isla

Beautiful. I particularly like Freya because it's well known but a bit rarer than the others. Xmas Smile

ShoppingDays · 04/12/2010 01:02

I like Evie as a nickname for something like Eva, Evelyn, Evelina. Prefer Mai with the spelling May.

How about Emma or Maya for a girl, or Milo or Arlo for a boy?

missnatalie · 04/12/2010 01:01

So far on the "Like" list weve got

Archie
Alfie
Zakary
Charlie
Lukas

Daisy
Freya
Evie
Niamh
Ava
Isla

Its so bloody hard to choose Confused

Harlow? not very feminine?

missnatalie · 04/12/2010 00:42

Really dont like the name Marlow pumperspumpkin. And my son was named after my grandfather, not a town.

missnatalie · 04/12/2010 00:39

Quite like Lily & Carter PsecretSantead will add them to my list Smile

Clearly your also taking the pss tinselthechaffinch* I asked for suggestions Hmm? Im now remember why i stopped coming on MN.

BarbieLovesKen Alfie and Evie are at the top of the list at the moment but were still not 100%.

OP posts:
BarbieLovesKen · 03/12/2010 22:04

Both Evie and Alfie are really lovely.

Really, really dont like Harlow and think Devon is just plain awful, sorry.

pumperspumpkin · 03/12/2010 15:27

Marlow isn't that far from Henley. Better than Harlow and would work for a boy or a girl.
