Brodie (boy)

What do you think to boy name Brodie? (Scottish spelling as opposed to Brody american sp.) Husband is dead keen on this which makes me like it even more as he hasn't shown much enthusiasm for anything else. However, I also like Daniel, to be shortened to Danny. He thinks Daniel is a bit of a wuss's name!

I went to school in Scotland with a few boys called Brodie, I've always liked the name.

So I vote yes!

tammytoby · 04/12/2010 20:54

Brodie is much cooler and less overused than Dan/Daniel imo.

RipMacWinkle · 04/12/2010 20:53

Have met/heard of a couple of boys called Brodie. Cool name imo.

Dh wouldn't put Daniel on our list as he reckoned he'd get "Dan-the-man" all the time (Lanarkshire stylee) and that does his head in.

Good luck and congrats.

Mousesmummy · 04/12/2010 00:06

We have a little Brodie at our yard and althouh I'd never heard it in relation to a boy before I really like it - sounds pretty cool to me without being 'stupidly trendy' iyswim?

yellowflowers · 03/12/2010 16:12

I only know one and it is a girl

thefurryone · 03/12/2010 13:12

Have to laugh at myself for going back to main thread and finding it says (boy) that'll be why I assumed it was a boys name then Grin

Although I'm pretty sure I would have thought that anyway!

thefurryone · 03/12/2010 13:10

Really like it, and I assumed it was a boys names before I clicked on the thread and saw some thought it might be for girls.

lowrib · 03/12/2010 12:18

i didn't know it was a girls name too.

LolaBellsAllTheWay · 03/12/2010 12:05

Cumbria i thought that too as i knew a female brodie first but the two males i know are very masculine, one in his 30s and the other is 2. I also know 2 male lindsays but they both carry it well.

cumbria81 · 03/12/2010 11:56

it's a very girlie sounding name. Not keen.

jellybeans · 03/12/2010 11:54

I know a boy Brody and a girl Brody (both spelled like that). It's a nice name.

LolaBellsAllTheWay · 03/12/2010 11:52

Dd2 was going to be brodie but it didn't go with our surname. Dd1 also has a unisex scottish name.

I know 2 of each gender and it suits them all.

I love it.

frankenfanny · 03/12/2010 10:48

I love this name. V Scottish and versatile. I know both boy and girl Brodies and they both suit it!

5GoldenFimbos · 03/12/2010 09:43

Much prefer Brodie to Daniel.

knit1purl1 · 03/12/2010 09:41

My excellent friend from New Zealand is called Brodie, so it mostly reminds me of an international jet-setting professional with a fabulous SEG life! (Possible downsides: jealous friends on MN.)

Does that help?

edinburghmama2b · 03/12/2010 09:37

Thanks for your help everyone! x

I really don't like it. I much prefer Daniel.

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 02/12/2010 22:52

very cool name,go for it!

ChippingIn · 02/12/2010 22:52

I love Brodie.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 02/12/2010 22:50

There are a few round here - it's no big deal. I love the name, Scottish enough without being too tartan trews and shortbread.

asmallbunchofflowers · 02/12/2010 22:38

Festive - Let's not enquire. I know some RL friends are on here, but would find it too weird if I discovered their posting names. Wink

SausageMonster · 02/12/2010 22:20

Yuk - Prime of Miss Jean Brodie springs to mind
