Love both - you have excellent taste Smile Gabriel slightly tops it for me.

mollymawk · 23/11/2010 00:02

Like the whole Thomas Hardy theme you have going here! I prefer Gabriel. As a once-Catholic, Jude always makes me think of Judas.

smother · 22/11/2010 23:56

same same zozzle,..... really not keen on Gabriel because of the angel association. And Gabriella for a girl (sorry this is not entirely relevant) is revolting - particularly with the nn Gabby.

Jude, on the other hand, is my idea of name perfection! As they say, it takes all sorts.

zozzle · 22/11/2010 23:05

Really not keen on Gabriel! Too many angel connotations (nothing against angels!) Love Jude though.

Definitely Gabriel. Was my choice if the baby I am expecting had been a boy. I have loved it for years. And it means "One who is praised". ;-)

AbsofCroissant · 22/11/2010 15:09

Gabriel. Google the song "Gabriel" by Emmy the Great. i really, really love it but I can't use it. Friend has a son called Gabriel already and DP's surname begins with a G. Gah!!!

lanismum · 22/11/2010 15:07

Love them both, Jude is ds middle name, Gabriel is on my list for a future ds Smile

caramellokoalalover · 22/11/2010 14:22

I love Gabriel.

I had finally brought DH around to it when we were having DS when DH's best friend said he hated it, sounded like 'gay boy' apparently Hmm, and my DH was put off Angry Will never get over it...and will not be letting anyone know our names this time round so we don't get stupid opinions!

MissMashMissMash · 22/11/2010 12:40

Like both slightly prefer Gabriel

skippingturtle · 22/11/2010 11:19

Both fab, for me it's Gabriel by a whisker.

Parker23 · 22/11/2010 10:17

I like both names really. I love Gabriel and so does my DH but I wonder what it is shortened to? I presume it's 'Gabe' which isn't quite as nice but inevitable when they start school etc. Do any of you who already have little Gabriels have other short versions of the name?

Gabriel, I have one. It turned up on both mine and my partners list - he was quite influenced by the Penny Arcade comic and an old computer game he played called Gabriel Knight. I really don't get the 'gay' argument at all.

thisisyesterday · 21/11/2010 22:27

no, my partner loved the name

LexieB · 21/11/2010 22:23

Oooohhh there are lots of you that have Gabriels.Did your partners always like it, my husband thinks its a bit'gay' god knows why!!! but think he can be persuaded cos its my favourite name

Gabriel for me too! x

ohfuschia · 21/11/2010 22:21

Gabriel (also have one :))

Mog, there's a reporter on 5live called Gabriel Gatehouse, I think the 2 G's sound fine there, so wouldn't rule it out for the two 'g' reason (though obviously don't know your surname!).

LexieB · 21/11/2010 22:19

Thank you for your comments.Already have a Jacob & a Maisie & know the next one is a boy, very exciting but find boys names quite tricky! thanks for your help!
