Arlo, Ringo or Ely?!?! Or something else?

We have two girls called Mollie and Isla and have a boy due on Saturday but still can't decide on a name! We'd like something that is a bit different to the Archie, Stanley type names and are thinking of Arlo or possibly Ringo or Ely. Any other ideas? And does Arlo sound silly when we already have an Isla?! Thanks!

Inigo is gorgeous.

Mollie,isla and Rudy

sounds good Smile

Liv77 · 21/11/2010 00:01

I don't think Arlo and Isla sound to similar. My friends son is called Arlo.

Eli does sound a bit to similar though and Ringo sounds like a pets name.

Thanks everyone! Some new names to add to our list and things to think about with the other names. Quite into the idea of Rudy!

Ringo is the name of a character in Neighbours, he gets hit by a motorbike and dies this week!

mrsissue · 19/11/2010 16:09

oh no, I didnt mean it like that! I meant it in general that someone always says something nasty about a name and there is always going to be someone who named their child that name.

I personally like Eli but if I didnt I wouldnt be rude about it. IYGWIM.

tummytickler · 19/11/2010 12:51

not upset, just seemed an extreme reaction to a simplE, inoffensive, biblical name, that all!

mrsissue · 19/11/2010 12:32

Tummytickler it got a Biscuit because some people have no taste Wink
Names always seem to upset someone

tummytickler · 19/11/2010 11:24

Why did Eli get a Biscuit?

FranSanDisco · 19/11/2010 10:24

Hugo.

Sorry, but Arlo and Ringo both sound like something from the circus IMHO and Eli Biscuit If you want the 'o' ending, I'd go for Leo or Jago maybe, or even Carlo

diddl · 19/11/2010 09:32

Arlo is fantasticGrin

Goingspare · 18/11/2010 23:07

where did duesaturday go?

Asteria · 18/11/2010 22:13

Kit, Orlando, Inigo, Innis, Rex, Jake.... if I have another DS I want them back!!!

SausageMonster · 18/11/2010 21:56

Something else - definitely

mopsyflopsy · 18/11/2010 21:32

Eli and Arlo do not work with your dd's name Isla. Say them quickly together and they indeed run into each other too much.

From your suggestions I think Ringo works best with Isla and Mollie. Ringo is also the most 'masculine' sounding imo.

tummytickler · 18/11/2010 19:56

I have an 8 year old ELi and love that - however it sounds rubbish with Isla, they run into each other a bit,
Arlo is very, very now, and I fear it will date a lot more than your other two (one biblical classic, one just a bit mad). I do not like Arlo anyway, and will be everywhere soon, new Felix imo.
Ringo is a bit mad, but nice, so mad that it is cute. My dd would choose this.
I think Ringo flows best with you dd's, but Arlo is more in keeping with their style.

Highlandgirl · 18/11/2010 19:55

Indy...?

Hedwig3 · 18/11/2010 19:36

Eli is good.

Ivor?

clumsymumluckybaby · 18/11/2010 17:02

I'm actualy quite jealous of 'rudi arlo' I very nearley used arlo rudy, but dp vetoed at the last minute for arlo phoenix.

applecharlotte · 18/11/2010 16:59

How about Albie? Thats the name we have decided on. I love Arlo but DP pointed out we live a bit close to Harlow in Essex to name our first born that!

4madboys · 18/11/2010 16:54

my ds4 is called Rudi Arlo, ds3 was meant to be Arlo but a mum at toddlers used it a few weeks before me!

i love arlo as a name, also like Eli :)

clumsymumluckybaby · 18/11/2010 16:51

I have a 10 week old Arlo,and I LOVE it!
I also concidered,

mumatron · 17/11/2010 21:38

phew, was just about to beg you not to use Ely! as mrsissue says it's a bit of a rough spot here in Cardiff.

from your list i like Arlo best.

i liked Evan for a boy, and would of used it this time if dd2 had been a ds.

good luck!
