TheNextMrsDepp · 15/11/2010 19:44

DD1 is Erin! (she's nine)

We very rarely encounter other Erins - we don't actually know any, but we bumped into one in a park once, and DD1 was very excited!

Erin has an Irish dad, hence the name. And it has been one of my favourite names for many years, long before the DCs arrived.

I know a lovely bloke called Erin. He suffered a little for it too while growing up (his Dad was Irish, his ma looked up Irish boys' names and didn't realise that it had been pretty much overtaken as a girl's name). He started calling himself Ernie for a while [blech!] but is happy with Erin now.

mrsKarpet - he will be very pleased to hear that it's still used as a boy's name in Irish families. :)
