How about Rosalind?

Secretwishescometrue · 16/11/2010 16:19

Gah! Blush stupid mobile internet Blush did not mean to post that! Was going to say love Rosalie and don't worry bout the twilight thing as they pronounce it different in the movie ( they call her Rosalee, which is lovely too imo)

Secretwishescometrue · 16/11/2010 16:15

Speak

jaggythistle · 15/11/2010 21:37

i like Rosa. sounds lovely. :-)

IHeartKingThistle · 15/11/2010 21:29

DS was going to be Rosa! (If he hadn't been a boy, obviously...) Smile

Faaamily · 15/11/2010 21:24

Rosalie is lovely, but I prefer Rosa. I think Luxembourg and Parks, too. It's strong but feminine. A fabulous name.

plasticface · 15/11/2010 20:35

Rosa after Rosa Parkes! Rosalie is a bit silly, nice for a little girl, but for an adult....

Neilthebabysmum · 15/11/2010 20:24

Thanks for your thoughts everyone - we don't watch Twilight and didn't know there was a character called Rosalie until it was mentioned on here! Still really like the name anyway!

Rosalie is a charcter in Twilight, no?

I have to say, I was devastated when people kept asking me if the beautiful name we chose for DD (who was named for a JD Salinger story, actually) was a Twilight reference. I had no bloody idea that it was a character from the series and would have seriously thought twice about it if I had.

Depends how much you like substandard teenage twaddle the books and films, I suppose.

Rosebud05 · 15/11/2010 20:12

Rosa makes me think of Rosa Luxemburg and Rosa Parks.

diddl · 15/11/2010 13:43

Rosalie makes me think of a cup of tea.

Bonsoir · 15/11/2010 13:39

I try to put all thoughts of PCness aside on baby name threads - it is such a critical decision that I think totally truthful opinions are in order!

anonymosity · 15/11/2010 13:35

Oh I am so glad you said it Bonsoir, that's what I thought right at the start about Rosa but was afraid to say! Shock

Bonsoir · 15/11/2010 11:24

Rosalie is much better than Rosa (which is boring and reminds me of Portuguese cleaning ladies!).

Komondor · 15/11/2010 11:22

Both lovely. Can't choose.

Hedwig3 · 15/11/2010 11:17

Rosa is so beautiful with it's simple elegance, particularly among the many frilly names that are popular at the moment.

DandyDan · 15/11/2010 11:10

Rosalie - very pretty and snappy. There is the Twilight connection and also Company of Wolves but that's all good.

Rosa might as well be Rosie. And with Rosalie you can always shorten it to whatever you fancy.

flopsy1974 · 15/11/2010 10:47

Rosa is gorgeous.

jabberwocky · 13/11/2010 23:23

How about Rosamund or Rosemary?

WhyHavePets · 13/11/2010 23:20

Isn't Rosalie a character in Twilight?

On that basis I would avoid TBH as people will alwyas think you named her after a blond haired, cats bum mouthed vampire!

anonymosity · 13/11/2010 23:14

Rosalie.

mumsgotatum · 13/11/2010 21:55

Rosalie

sensiblesusannigella · 13/11/2010 21:34

I agree with Horton about Rosalie being a bit frilly. I think it might also be spelt/said wrong too. Rosa is lovely simple and classic and has options for nicknames Rose or Rosie. I also like the Rosa Parks connection

PMTeepee · 13/11/2010 21:32

Rosa is gorgeous. Unless you call a Rosalie Rosa from the day she is born she will be called Rose or Rosie.
Although, I like all of them- nothing to do with the fact that my name is quite similar at all at allHmm

Bumperlicious · 13/11/2010 21:14

I really wanted Rosa for DD2 but DH didn't like it so we compromised on Rose. But I really like Rosa.
