Getting fed up with not having a clue.

I love Edwin, after Scots poet Edwin Morgan.

Some great name choices on here :)

Also my nephew (we're a Scottish family) is called Rory.

Do you like Danger Mouse the cartoon? I mentioned earlier I have a Donald, and the DM cartoon character is called Donnie Murdo in the Gaelic version, so we quite often call DS Donnie Murdo!

So, both fab names!

That's the trouble with pets' names - so many have 'people' names. I also like Archie, Ted, Paddy (though this is also the name of a nephew), Caspar all of which are names of current dogs within our family.

Toby keeps cropping up as a possible and gets dismissed though not sure why.

Not sure how I feel about Innes - I think I only know it as a surname.

Sorry persephone, but doesn't it sound very like "murder"?

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 11/11/2010 14:05

I did wonder about the Anus thing to be honest... Grin.

I love Murdo. Really love it.

My ex partner is Angus. be prepared for bitter exes to rename them An(g)us in correspondence :) Our Sons are Hamish & Murdo. Hamish's pet name is Moushka and Murdo's is 'Mo'.

Hedwig3 · 11/11/2010 12:43

Rory

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/11/2010 09:13

Aargh - Jethro? Well hopefully the sexist racist fartarse of a comedian will be no more retired by time the baby is at school.

Love Rufus.

Not sure whether most people pronounce Lachlan "lach-lun" or "loch-lun". Was thinking of Cameron of Lochiel.

Alexander good Scottish heritage too.

diddl · 11/11/2010 07:54

Fergus, Rufus, Arlo, Jethro.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 11/11/2010 07:28

These are all great, and have mostly been suggested (by me to DH) at some point. I like Lachlan but worry it's a bit 'Home and Away' iykwim?

Lorcan? Hmmm - will go and try that one out on DH...

Well my parents always used to tell me that one of my names was also the name of an animal they'd owned before I was born. She had a lovely nature apparently Hmm. I always hated that name because of it, and it took me about 15 years to finally realise they hadn't named me after her, just that they'd liked the name and given it first to the animal and then to me. :)

I'm fine with it now but did give me a bit of name-hate for a while!

Can't you do a shortlist of 5 each under exam conditions and then compare notes?
