Why all the excitement about what David Cameron would call their baby but not what Ed Miliband's will be? I am dying to find out...

Ooooohhh I was right, I win! I've only just noticed...
I got the middle name wrong though!

timetomove · 09/11/2010 23:13

I agree that Samuel and Daniel (or Sam and Dan) are a bit too rhymie. I have a friend called Chloe with siblings Sophie and Toby, and when their parents hollered upstairs for one of them they could never work out which one was being called (just sounded like oh-ee from a distance) so they all just ignored it.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/11/2010 22:33

Think they've named him after Sam Cameron?

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 20:01

They just need one called Emmanuel now to complete the Jewish rhyming trilogy.

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 20:00

Well I was on the vege of suggesting Samuel, then I decided they'd never pick it because it rhymed too much with Daniel.Hmm

How could we possibly put an entire nation's future in the hands of a man who doesn't think that one through?Angry

whyamibothering · 09/11/2010 17:47

Hasn't the baby been named Samuel Stewart Thornton Milliband

mathanxiety · 09/11/2010 17:47

Hey, I said Samuel too! (also Abraham and Justin though) Mon, 17:29:11

Lovely name, goes well with Daniel.

FIMBOfedupofrandomfireworks · 09/11/2010 17:43

Yes it does sound about right. Dh had to drop me off at the register office and then find a parking space, so it was more or less all done by the time he arrived.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 09/11/2010 17:41

Well - that might be more like it. He is a bloke, after all,

FIMBOfedupofrandomfireworks · 09/11/2010 17:40

Yes but I still can't get my head around the "forget" bit unless he forgot the appointment time.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 09/11/2010 17:34

Well, if you're not married, you both have to be present at the registration in order to be put on it. If you are married, either parent can do it (and both can be put on).

FIMBOfedupofrandomfireworks · 09/11/2010 17:08

Earlier this year Mr Miliband admitted he was "embarrassed" he forgot to add his name to Daniel's birth certificate.

How does one "forget" to add a name to a birth certificate?

miffyjane · 09/11/2010 17:01

Do I get 1/2 point for Sam? Wink

Vine · 09/11/2010 16:29

Love it. Kind of like Stewart too.

LouMacca · 09/11/2010 16:09

Oops, its been one of those days Smile

LouMacca · 09/11/2010 16:08

Daniel & Samuel - lovely names [names]

Woodlands · 09/11/2010 15:55

Guacamole was the winner - it's Samuel. Samuel Stewart Thornton Miliband.

essenceofSES · 09/11/2010 12:51

Heard these suggestions on the radio this morning...

Glenn
(as in Glenn Miller Band)

or Steve
(as in Steve Miller Band)

androbbob · 09/11/2010 12:47

Teddy is my vote

Bue · 09/11/2010 12:42

Read a quite in The Times this morning from Ed - something like "I know which name I want, I just need to get it approved". So we'll have to wait for Justine's say-so!

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 12:39

Yes I think Benjamin is a hot contender too.

miffyjane · 09/11/2010 12:29

Zack
Sam
Benjamin

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 11:56

Don't worry yourslef about that Elephant - it will never happen. EM is the world's least charismatic person. He'll never ever win an election no matter how badly Dave and Nick may cock up.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/11/2010 11:46

Surely not ending with an M before Miliband, if that's what he'll be called?

What about Oliver? That's top name at the moment isn't it. Nice parliamentarian connection as well.

Joseph maybe? That's Jewish but also very normal. Joe Miliband.

YES to whoever voted for impossible future love affair between this boy and Florence C. Or perhaps cross-bench gay affair between Daniel and DC's boy Arthur?

If EM becomes prime minister, will these be the first children of a partnership (rather than marriage) to live at No 10?

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 11:19

So, he has form, is what I'm saying. Though I'd rule out anything trendily old testament, (as they've picked Daniel they are not exactly trend-setters) and opt for safe choices. Perhaps Adam.
