But agree with spanky2

Think about it, how many people call their child Thomas (as in tank engine).

I would shorten to Del. Had a friend called Adele, she was Del.

love it. also really like Celine (as in Before Sunrise/Sunset) but of course people will think of Celine Dion automatically
