Boys name to go with Spike

So. DS' name is Spike and DC2 will be arriving next year. We had a very tough time finding boys names we liked first time round, so thought we'd better get started on finding another boys name, although gender is currently unknown.

I was thinking of going with the Comedians of the 50s/60s theme (Lenny, Woody, Sid), but couldn't find anything I liked. Also not sure "themes" is the best way to go when naming a baby!

Spike is obviously quite a punchy name and I want DC2's name to be able to hold it's own.

Names ending in an "O" sound are out as they sound terrible with our surname.

I've spent two weeks idly browsing names and not found ONE that I liked Hmm.

This is going to be tough.

Anything spring to mind?

there are stacks of Dexters- beware!

and Milo is a twat of a tweenie (is that still on? or have cbeebies sent it to the vaults where it belongs?)

fiestabelle · 05/08/2011 11:29

I like Dexter, or Hunter, both sit nicely with Spike. Your DS is just georgous, he so suits his name.

SpringHeeledJack · 05/08/2011 11:28

I'd say you need a nice easy name, so it doesn't look like trying too hard, iykwim

how about Eddie? or variations, eg- Ed, Ned, Ted

I think Spike is lovely, btw

MetalSian · 05/08/2011 11:25

I think Spike is an awesome name... good on you for sticking with it =D.

I think Ozzy and Spike would be awesome.
But some great name suggestions on here too.
Best of luck!

Sadly, I had a MC following this thread, but happy to say I am pregnant again and due in December. It's definitely a boy, so I am reviving this thread to see what new/different thoughts people have on a boy's name for DS2. It needs to go with DS1's name, which is Spike (I know there's some haters, but that's his name and we're not changing it!).

Milo is number 1 at the moment, but it's increasingly popularity is putting me off and our surname ends in an "o" sound, so I think the slight repetition probably sounds silly, yes?

Dexter. definitely.

tstar · 12/11/2010 07:51

Sooo weird, I first thought of Lee too.
(see mental)
I also like Lenny.

I freaked out when choosing my seconds name to match the first, maybe just find a name you like.

Yarnie · 11/11/2010 22:24

Oh my goodness! You lot are a mine of fabulous names! So many to think about. I will digest and revert.

Thank you, thank you!

And also for your kind words about my darling boy. I think he's pretty adorable, but then I'm horrendously biased :-)
