FINALLY narrowed it down to three - Edward, George and Thomas

With 2 and a bit weeks to go and 9 months of umming and aahing and changing our minds, we have finally decided on three choices for our baby boy due in 2 1/2 weeks.

Edward (my father's and grandfather's name)
George (my other grandfather's name)
Thomas (English equivalent of husband's name)

My preference is definitely towards Edward or George because (a) they are connected to my family and the baby will have my husband's last name (which is a Serbian last name; and (b) Thomas is very very popular.

Middle name will probably be one of the ones we don't choose - like Edward George or example or George Thomas

I LOVE Edward. I love George but wonder whether it's a bit, I don't know, "blah". Husband prefers George or Thomas to Edward but happy with all three choices.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks

I love all the names and have used them in my family Smile.

Thomas is not dull Hmm.

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 26/10/2010 07:10

Like Edward nn Ted
Then George
Thomas is dull

MissHavishamsDress · 26/10/2010 06:05

George has the most character - I like it best

too many Thomases

Edward is rarer, I like Ted or Teddy for short

LaDiDevilDiDie · 25/10/2010 22:34

I like Edward (Ds's middle name) but I think it is surging up in popularity so might end up being a bit trendy rather than just ever popular like your other choices.

Like George the least.

othersideofchannel · 25/10/2010 22:30

All a bit dull imo.

Wollstone · 25/10/2010 22:26

Edward is lovely

flopsy1974 · 25/10/2010 22:24

Edward and George are both great names. Not keen on Thomas.

LexieB · 25/10/2010 22:19

All boring!

EricNorthmansMistress · 25/10/2010 22:16

George is VERY blah. I really don't understand how anyone would actively choose it, it's so dull. Edward and Thomas are lovely classic names.

Clary · 25/10/2010 17:49

I like all those names tho I will agree with you Thomas v v popular.

I shied away from George for similar reasons for DS2 and now we know a lot more DC called his actual name!! But also a George in most years. Ditto Edward actually (but 3-4 Thomases IYSWIM) but that just shows that they are nice names that people like! Grin

I like George the best I think.

SmacsGotABigWitchyWart · 25/10/2010 17:46

My DH is Edward George and my nephew is Thomas. All excellent names but I think Edward George is great but then I am a little biased [hwink]

Panzee · 25/10/2010 17:43

I like them all. But 3 names are enough to keep in your head till you see him. You will know then, I promise you. We had 4 in our shortlist and decided while I was being stitched up!

shabbapinkfrog · 25/10/2010 17:41

My DS4 (13yrs old) is called Thomas - I love it!

When he was a baby he always got Tommy, then as he got older it was Thomas and now, at High School everybody calls him Tom. Although I do like George as well.

sparkleshine · 25/10/2010 17:35

They were also in our final 5 names with Jack and Samuel added. We chose Thomas as it suited middle and last name better.
Popularity didn't matter to us. Turns out he is the only baby/ child Thomas we know anyway.

Yellowflowers · 25/10/2010 17:11

They are all excellent names. I love Edward though. Known as Woody. Or Ned.

Dumbledoresgirl · 25/10/2010 17:08

I prefer Edward (ds2's middle name, traditional English name, goes back a long way in history and never seems to date) and George (strong, solid name). Thomas is a bit too popular for my liking, and also, I can't get away from Thomas the Bleep Bleep Tank Engine.

But all 3 are good names.

Flossiebelle · 25/10/2010 17:05

I love Edward. That would be my choice but all lovely Smile
