Is Robin Rose for a girl ridiculous? How about Riley or Minnie?

Anybody else thinking potentially of Robin for a girl or Riley? I like Robin Rose and Riley Rose but not 100% in love with them. I also quite like Minnie and Dotty but are those names likely to get picked on?

PS did you know Snowdrop is an actual name!

Robin is OK, not with Rose though.

Minnie is slang for a fanny is it not?

Riley is very American. I think Elvis Presley's granddaughter is a Riley. I don't like it.

I love Robin.

Riley is straying into surmanes a first territory where you'll find the 'chav' word used.

Dorothy is nice with Dotty for short.

Minnie not sufficient unless as a nickname.

Thank you, I thought Riley was a surname too but found it in my baby name book as girl name?? Worried Robyn sounds a bit american with Y but maybe its more feminine. This name business is not easy, is it!

Depends where you are as I've never heard Minnie as slang for a foof.

My nanas a Minnie and I love it, would definitely consider it :)

Minnie can be a contraction of Wilhelmina - not twee if a contraction IMO.

I like Robyn, but think Robin and Riley are more boy than girl.

Oh I love Minnie, but I think it needs to be a nickname. I did think about naming my DD2 Marianne with Minnie as a nn.

Robyn I like.
Riley is not a "real" first name as far as I am concerned.

Robin is OK. Rose is lovely. Rily is a last name. Dotty is short for Dorothy and OK for a nick name but seriously mean for a given name and Minnie is common classroom slang got the female genitals.

RockBat · 25/10/2010 10:58

Robyn is lovely, can't see any problem with Robyn Rose. Riley is a surname and sounds like a surname and Minnie is unspeakably twee. Dorothy/Dotty is nice though.

DramaInPyjamas · 25/10/2010 10:52

Robyn spelled with a 'Y' is much nicer for a girl in my opinion..

Riley is nice, not keen on the others though, sorry!
