Am only 6 weeks but can't help thinking about names.

I like Ziva.

Any thoughts?

How about Niamh? Pronounced properly (Nee-av), it might go well with an Irish surname.

Ziva is nice, but a good deal depends on exactly what the surname is. If it starts with an O' then maybe not because of the vowels running into each other. If the surname has a G in the middle, I have some sort of negative reaction that I can't really put my finger on -- Ziva Hegarty, Ziva Brogan, Ziva Hogan, Ziva Higgins..

Abbie is cool Grin

I think I may have a girly crush on Ziva lol, the more I think about the name the more I like it.

Maybe Ziva Elizabeth or something like that.

I guessed you were an NCIS fan! Love the name. Love the show to. Jethro was on my first shortlist but didn't make the final cut.

LauraNorder · 21/10/2010 20:51

Just realised that one of the reasons I like DD2's name is because of NCIS - she's Abbie and Abbie in NCIS rocks Grin

AgnesBrown · 21/10/2010 12:55

DP is Irish so no Jewish roots.

I quite like Jethro Grin

I watched the episode where Kate dies last week and sobbed Blush - blummin pregnancy hormones.

Yes, like it. I'd guess a Ziva had Jewish/ Middle Eastern roots?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 21/10/2010 10:23

When I read it, I thought it was an alternative spelling of Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction...

Yeah, that could work too. Grin

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 21/10/2010 10:19

NCIS,i watch it all the time, and i adore Ziva the character and the name
laura :o at Probie, its not a name, its a term that means beginner or newbie,,

LauraNorder · 21/10/2010 10:05

NCIS for me. Whatever you do don't name your DS Jethro or even worse Probie! Grin

BuntyPenfold · 21/10/2010 10:03

I do like Zara better, Ziva may not be made up, but it sounds made up if you see what I mean.

Rhubarbgarden · 21/10/2010 08:42

Sounds like a car to me. 'the new Vauxhall Ziva' etc.

BelligerentGhoul · 20/10/2010 19:33

Not fond - sounds like somebody in a 1970s sci-fi novel.

micku5 · 20/10/2010 19:33

AgnesBrown · 20/10/2010 19:31

The first thing I thought was NCIS!! (When's it coming back on!)

I quite like it.

4andnotout · 20/10/2010 13:45

Dp not do!

chaya5738 · 20/10/2010 13:45

ooh, I LOVE it. I know a Ziv (boy) and thought it was cute but hadn't heard of the female version. Might just have to steal it...(sorry) :)

4andnotout · 20/10/2010 13:45

There is a mn'er who has a dd called Ziva. I love it although it does remind me of NCIS, do really likes it especially as it's hebrew and his mum is Jewish. I just need to get pregnant though really [hgrin]

Pasiphae · 20/10/2010 13:41

NCIS for me too.
Unusual, pretty, strong, but a bit too "tough" for me.

Komondor · 20/10/2010 13:01

Yes, I think it would be odd for a pale pasty british girl to have an unusual hebrew name. How about Zara, Sylvia, Sophie, Vivien?

AlpinePony · 20/10/2010 12:08

Love it. It's on our list for a girl.

QuickLookBusy · 20/10/2010 11:48

Would be a good scrabble score!

Have never heard of it, but it sounds very strong-dont mess with me type of name.

Much prefer Zia

tummytickler · 20/10/2010 11:43

i have never seen NCIS - that is maybe why dh would not agree when i was after it!

AgnesBrown · 20/10/2010 11:41

Its a real name Smile

Its the name of one of the special agents in NCIS Blush

She is beautiful, strong and independant, things I would love a daughter to be.

We are pasty white typical brits with an Irish Surname, so would it sound odd to have an hebrew first name?

boudoiricca · 20/10/2010 11:39

No. Sounds like a cheap brand of sportswear.

What about Zia? (which is actually a name)
