I read it as Emmy-Mania, like the madness than surrounds the Emmy Awards....but that might just be me.

CupcakesHay · 18/10/2010 11:53

Can't you just go with Emmy and have Maia marie as middle name?

chickentwizzler · 18/10/2010 12:31

Emma
Maria
May
Mae
Maya
Maia
Emmeline
Emily
Emilia

All lovely names, plesae do not use a hyphanated or made up name.

Skyrg · 18/10/2010 12:54

Since Emmy is a nickname, I would put a longer name on the Birth Certificate to give her an adult name for the future. Lots of names can be shortened to Emmy if that's the nickname you want to use.

I think Emmy-Maia Marie is too many Ms tbh, gets a bit difficult to say.

What about Emilia Marie or Emily Marie or Emma Marie, etc? Does it have to be hyphenated? You can always choose to use her first name and middle name most of the time.

I don't understand the bit about your maiden name I'm afraid, if she's not going to have that as a surname why is it a problem?

thisisyesterday · 18/10/2010 13:03

i would use Emmeline Maia (not hyphenated)

then i would just call her Emmy-Maia for short

Minione · 18/10/2010 14:08

Agree with other posters, give her a proper name and have Emmy as a nickname.

ihave3beauties · 18/10/2010 17:44

I think it would be a good choice to go with Emilia Marie ( prety name by the way) that way you can use Emmy as her nn. I think it sounds nicer than Emmy-Maia Marie because as someone has already mentioned it sounds a little too M-meGrin.

ihave3beauties · 18/10/2010 19:12

Ive always laughed at the mmmmmm's lol... well Emilia marie is defo on our shortlist
also like maizie/maisie Marie its a minefield.... her sisters name is Ellouise Marie so thinking these go really well..
i have to say this chat has been great unlike another one i started with sparked off some rather strange debates nothing to do with the actual subject!
Thank you again..:) x

Definitely go with Emilia Marie (very pretty) and call her Emmy. Maisie Marie is very, very singsongy - I really wouldn't go there.

mathanxiety · 19/10/2010 19:31

Emilia Marie is very sweet. (And this has been a very civilised chat, you're right [hsmile])

I think Maisie started off as a nn for Mary some time, and Marie is French for Mary, so Maisie Marie might be the same name twice....

Tippychoocks · 19/10/2010 19:35

Emmy is lovely (biased) but please don't do the made up hypen-y ones. Please.
I don't think it matters what your surname was btw, who will know?

Maia is one of those names that people pronounce oddly, I know a Mai called May so is Maia, May-a or My-a?

Either way my twopennorth is Emilia or Emmeline then Maia or Marie. As seperate names [hgrin]
