Can you spell Margot as Margo

I think probably not but I've done a search on the name here and hadn't thought of the maggot connection! Anyone know how likely it is a child will get teased for this? Does Margo just look a bit rubbish though?

And opinions welcome on the name itself of course :) .

Margaux is a wine! You might as well go all the way and call her Chardonnay!

LynetteScavo · 16/10/2010 14:23

I much prefer Margo.

mopsyflopsy · 16/10/2010 14:07

Margot will often be pronounced Mar-gott (e.g. in Germany and Scandinavia it is pronounced that way)

Margo will ALWAYS be pronouced Mar-go.

You have to have the t. It does give it a more elegant look. Margo looks daft and a short step away from Margi. And Margaux looks like gateaux.

ValiumSkeleton · 16/10/2010 10:42

Margo is used in Spain. I knew one.

Margot looks more normal imo.

Margeaux or Margaux just look ridiculous.

Linnet · 15/10/2010 23:17

My friend is Margo with no T.

jkklpu · 15/10/2010 23:15

try Margaux - a perfectly valid way of spelling it

Rhubarbgarden · 15/10/2010 22:33

I think it's a lovely name, but you have to keep the T; it looks like a nickname without it. The T gives it elegance.

pancakeisuptheduff · 15/10/2010 22:28

Margo without the t is the more common spelling in the U.S. I think.

pushmepullyou · 15/10/2010 22:23

My godmother is called Margo.

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 15/10/2010 22:21

Margo looks a bit odd.

Love the name - have a friend called Margot and when I was younger I loved the name after reading it in a book.

FranknCock · 15/10/2010 22:21

I know an adult Margo who spells it that way.

JaynieB · 15/10/2010 22:20

I think its fine. I knew a girl at Uni called Margo (short for Margaret)

BelligerentGhoul · 15/10/2010 22:20

I think it looks silly, sorry.

Not overly fond of the name tbh. It just reminds me of The Good Life.
